Life of David, Lesson 6, 2 Samuel 15-19, 3April2022

When David committed adultery with Bathsheba and then killed her husband he sowed a whirlwind of consequences that would explode in his family and his life. In this concluding lesson we see the fulfillment of Nathan's prophecy that David's family would experience violence and bloodshed. His son Absalom raises a rebellion against his dad and then, contrary to David's orders, Absalom is killed by Joab. In the midst of his turbulent, complicated, seriously flawed life, David is still "A Man after God's own Heart." That is a great comfort ! God's grace still operates in the lives of complicated, seriously flawed and imperfect people like you and me. Lots to learn here not just about us and how we are to live, but about our gracious God and how He operates with mind-boggling love and mercy.
