Had a Gateway with that exact same case, a GT5220 with an Athlon 64 X2 2 GHz. Moved the board into my family’s second computer’s case and attempted to rebuild it. Accidentally hooked up the card reader wrong and fried the board. I’m planning to build a sleeper out of it now with a Ryzen 3 to keep with the cases history of being an AMD system.

Nice Job Billy, nothing wrong with XP on a SSD. Down the road i would look for a newer power supply if you plan on keeping it

From my experience, the G41 chipset just lacks AHCI.

I have the G41M-P25 with a Core 2 Quad Q9400 & 3.8Ghz overclock. The motherboard doesnt have AHCI due to IDE which is a good thing as it makes life a lot easier when installing Windows XP.

Great video, I agree that 775 can still be a capable platform for a lot of tasks, especially with a core 2 quad. Just a heads up you'll likely need a new cooler. C2Q cooler has a copper core (I think its thicker as well) whilst C2D is smaller and all aluminum.

Great video as usual! I’m an AMD fanboy, but I do love core 2s. Great XP retro machines but still good for modern stuff. I have 4-5 of them and every time I see one at the thrift store i can’t help myself and I have to buy it. Lol.

Windows XP works fine on that computer and it's way better than Windows ME.
