I was in an on the job industrial accident, as one of two welders for a natural gas utility in a hole 30' deep, 20' wide, 80' long. I was blown off my feet about 8' into a 32' aluminum extension ladder. That was August 25, 1985. I was 26: I am now 63. I have been in constant pain for nearly 36 yrs, my accident and treatment has been documented like a book, And not one study has invited me to be a part of. I have never missed a pill count, nor a UA in 36 yrs. Do to your opioid problem I am allowed to suffer #7--#8 pain for 6 yrs, does no one care.

I had a Broken back with major disc herniation, covered by 4 Insurance companies, and I was told I needed emergency surgery until the nursing sister discovered a 5yr old WCB claim for a back sprain following 2 weeks rest I returned to work as a field Engineer for a major manufacturer of Heavy electro-mechanical equipment. Then suddenly I became an elective surgical candidate with a pre-existing condition. Following that, I worked for 4yrs while arguing with my Insurance companies. I had 2 job offers still in the field but just doing the programming of the equipment instead of the start-up and Troubleshooting, but I needed some extra college courses. Problem solved, you'd think WSIB would stop paying me if I did that as I would be improving my situation, I made $100, 000+/yr, they paid me $30, 000/yr, the new position would pay me $110, 000 to $120, 000/yr, the problem was? They insisted on me having the surgery once one of the above idiots stated that I needed it or I would be delaying my own recovery, after 2yrs, really, other Drs recommended the opposite but were not listened to.
I can't listen to this crap being spouted above, it's just a load of mubo jumbo, being mixed up to confuse and justify their current positions. Let us stick with neurological pain only in patients who are not already addicts, why are you even talking about addiction, I thought this was supposed to be about chronic pain Bitch!

I’m sitting here right now in such pain I can’t move or get back into bed! I need help soon or I’ll do something that I don’t want my family to experience! I was dismissed from my pain clinic because I took a Klonopin from my Primary doctor!! Now what do I do? I’m getting ready to listen

Cancer/Pain patients fighting to live are being lumped together with those seeking to checkout and this complete disconnect is causing pain patients to have medication reduced that eventually leads towards suicidal issues and creating further issues that could be avoided. Politicians are incapable of solutions and these social crisis will lead towards collapse if we don’t get a grip of this insanity and apply sustainable solutions that scale accordingly!

In my case, workplace injury was "DENIED" medical investigation, The Workers Compensation Board did "EVERYTHING POSSIBLE" to deny investigation. 5 orthopedic surgeons / 3 neurosurgeons, over a 3 yr period, 2006 to 2009 "ALL REFUSED" medical investigation of my specific complaint. "No Physical Examination Whatsoever" - When I was finally diagnosed, with my Specific Complaint" Workers Compensation deliberately denied requested medical treatment of workplace injury. WCB = Medical Insurance FRAUD " = "RACKETEERING''

there has to be change in the mindset to tackle pain. we are still in the dark ages to treat pain or source of it. that even showed itself during corona pandemic. we still don’t understand how brain really works and we are unable to target a certain pain. the medicine should be more focused per condition and aging phenomena has to be understood than a generic opioid approach.

The old model. Best of luck. We achieve far better results in ways already well known.

100, 000 deaths 3 years after this video was made. main culprit? profit, systemically and self serving stupidity at the individual institutional level and recklessness and laziness at the family & individual level. "right now our budget looks very promising" @ 47:30, she says this about solving the problem, right before it explodes in its damaging death count. shows you how people will lie to an audience, and to themselves.

I wonder if there are studies that have explored the use of animal and plant “toxins” and their properties as possible pain inhibitors.

I have a question why Pain Dr's prescrive Suboxone to treat chronic pain when this medication is deasign to treat opioid addiction is not for chronic pain also is not appoved by FDA to threat chronic pain, People with addiction problem don't have chronic pain, this medication contains oppioid and oppioid blocker it dosen't work and is very $$$?

Most of this has nothing to do with pain management.
Just about addiction.

Doctors don’t want to treat pain, and unfortunately there are people who do suffer from chronic pain. Moreover, there are not any better alternatives than analgesics.

47, 000 deaths opioid related (2018) a year is not an epidemic. 450, 000 deaths from tobacco and 250, 000+ deaths annually from medical malpractice truly is an epidemic. Not to mention the obesity epidemic!
