"Crossing rivers can be dangerous"
Proceeds to cross the river at least 3 times for each shot of him crossing the river.

Once for the shot. Twice to retrieve the camera. A third time to actually get to the other side with all his equipment. I love the dedication to the beautiful cinematography in these videos - simply to review a $12 harbor freight hatchet.

I cannot help but admire the growth of Wranglerstars cinematography. Watching this video I can see the lessons you've implemented from other videos you've created such as your 'Solo Ride' video or the Quadvan videos. It's been an exciting time following along the journey!

“A lot of folks say that wasn’t a real test, and we don’t know the hardness of the steal, or this and that. You know what? This is a $12 axe”

You should bring back some of these simple tool videos. I love the way you take such a simple tool as an axe and create a story. Your passion is really showing.

Regarding your grandfather’s dot dash blaze:
I was hiking in the San Bernardino Mountains today and saw the dot dash blaze on my trail. These trees were old growth Lodgepole Pines. Did your Grandfather ever make it to southern CA? I have photos if you want want to see them.

Cody, all that climbing is turning you into a string bean. That's a great little hatchet. The great thing about softer, tougher steel is that you can restore the edge on a slab of stream-side sandstone. Try that with a chipped-edge Spyderco. Thanks for the great video.

Our dude really climbed a mountain, to sit down on a stump and say "stop overthinking it, and just enjoy a thing that works well, regardless of how or who made it".

"At least once a day, do something that scares you"

Spot on. You've earned yourself a sub, sir. Love the content.

I've had one of those hand axes for nearly two years now and I've used and abused it removing stumps and roots and all that.. It's held up surprisingly well. It's also surprisingly ergonomic.. I recommend it.

“At least once a day do something that scares you”
I really like that, a good thing in life that can help you get through the hardest parts

You know... i'm not really big into forestry and what not, probably because i live in the city. But something about Wrangler and his videos are just very calming and relaxing. i find myself watching his videos for hours on end. Having seemingly no genuine need or interest for the information he provides, i somehow still enjoy learning and watching him calmly demonstrate stuff, helps with my anxiety honestly. I know im probably not the exact audience you're intending to inform or please, but hey, it works either way haha! Keep up the good work man!

The other important point is that someone could buy several of these, make the modifications that you did, and leave them in a couple of places. For instance, if someone had a hunting camp, this ax could stay at the camp. If one forgot to bring an ax, this one is there but doesn't represent a huge financial loss if something happens to it. If one remembers to bring another ax from home but two people are at camp, then two people can work on chopping chores.

Cody, As a native Oregonian I’ve spent a lot of my time in the old growth forest, and I must say you do a fantastic job with your filming. I get the feeling of being out there every time I watch your videos. Well done.

I want to see you survive 3 days with just the hand axe. I have one. Now I'm going to buy one for my son too. Your attention to detail and enthusiasm for your work are contagious. Bravo.

To your speaking to the hardness of the steel, I live up here in Manitoba, and in winter, cold, Canadian winter (-40 celsius) I have had a gransfors axe chip a huge chunk out, because it wasn't soft enough for the cold, had a thin profile, and was brittle in these temps. I now use what I consider 'summer' axes (hard steel) and softer, cheaper, Canadian hardware store softer axes in winter. Nice review!

I picked one up, will probably be doing similar modifications today or tomorrow when I find some downtime. Thanks for the idea and keeping an eye out for great deals! I love this thing!

Probably the most honest heart to heart he's done about a tool.i enjoyed it

I for one really appreciate honest tool reviews on lower end tools. Not everyone can run out and buy the "best" there is.

East Coast Connecticut Guy enjoys these survival videos, not to mention putting the Wranglerstar touch on tools.
