I threw my hands up and quit. Graduated in 2022. Eaten alive is a real thing. I think it's time to unionize. Four months in a clinic, 8 months in a hospital. Going to try home care next. Been home 3 months now and still don't feel right.

Although I love this entire conversation, I wrote down and will share: "exhaustion is not a requirement for rest." Thank you for the fantastic advice and ways of thinking. Very valuable.

Such great information! I was an L&D Nurse for 7 years until I totally crashed and burned. I was fortunate to quickly find work outside of healthcare but swore I was never coming back to nursing. Healing didnt happen overnight, I really struggled with the loss of my career and severe depression. It took over a year to finally feel like myself again. I'm finally ready to return as a travel nurse this coming January. Podcasts like this are helping me prepare to return with a new mindset, new drive and new energy.

I have been a nurse for almost 30 years. Since the “C” discrimination, nursing has completely changed. Ty for talking about this subject

thank you for this! I am in nursing school and presenting to a group of student nurses about burn out next week. this was amazing and I can't wait to have this discussion. I too am a recovering people pleaser and have been working on setting boundaries in my personal life over the last couple of years. this is a passion of mine, to teach others what I have learned, so I was thrilled to get some great information from this podcast. you are doing great work!! so glad I found you.

When a superior makes you feel bad for saying no is what makes it hard. I know I’m so burned out and I have no self-compassion. I’ve pushed myself in nursing for 18 years. Experiencing bullying and watching incivility all around me…..it has destroyed my identity. I just don’t have the heart for it anymore but I don’t know what to do now. I pushed myself through a MSN thinking it would put me on track to a better space, but it hasn’t happened.

What a great video!! As a counselor who has come out of retirement to do Teledoc and EAP Counseling and Life Coaching to help people struggling with anxiety and burnout, you have just solidified the value and my need to offer even more specialized services to healthcare workers!. Great resources! Thanks so much!

I'm a nurse tech in a rehab facility and have always done geriatrics LTC. We techs or CNAs whatever we're called now are way more prone to burn out. At least in facilities because not only do we do the hardest dirtiest work as the grunts but the lack of respect that the field has for us and the fact the public has no idea who we are. It's crazy. During this pandemic we only hear about nurse but that's not too unusual. We stand in the shadows. You rarely hear about them or even from them. It's like we don't exist and after 28 years it's time for me to fly. I made a lot of money for a lot of facilities because we are the money makers and been looked down on the whole time. At least nurses can vent and are recognized and never do you hear a nurse tell anyone that they have a lackey to do the hard, dirty stuff.

As a new nurse this is gold. This was the valuable wisdom I needed to go into my 3rd week.

A big one I’m noticing is boundaries with co-worker gossip

My facility is forcing staff to work overtime. It is really exhausting and impacts the nurses mentally.
