King Felipe has been booed and heckled while visiting the flood-ravaged region of Valencia.
The Monarch was visiting the worst affected towns.
There have been protests against the government's response to the disaster - which has now killed at least 214 people.
Tens of thousands of soldiers and police officers have been deployed to assist in the rescue effort.

You keep getting this wrong. Of course people are Angy because alerts were insufficient. But what shocks people is that no one was the following days to help.

I am a Spaniard. I think people are extremely angry at authorities and the king, was the victim of that anger, when the main responsibles are the president of the Community of Valencia and the President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez. The president, ran away and did not even face the angry people. He has the power to send the army, the king has not, king has not power, he's just a diplomatic

To be clear, the Prime Minister and the Valencian Community President were both next to him. I have no doubt it was the Prime Minister and the Valencian President who they were mainly aiming at. The Prime Minister ran away, and the Valencian President stood right behind the King, clearly hoping to be protected by his security guards. The King and Queen both stayed around, and spoke to the people, who were very agitated and angry. While I'm not particularly fond of monarchies, they continue to outdo the national and regional governments at the humane level, every single time.

Kudos to the king for staying & absorbing the anger. He clearly has leadership skills. Many would’ve ran away.

They were heckling Sánchez, the Prime Minister, not king Felipe.

So very sorry for the people of Valencia ❤

This headline is really biased. They booed the president of the government, Pedro Sanchez, and the president of the autonomous community (of the region). The king was more of a collateral victim.

🔴 Yes, absolutely well said! Millions, hundreds of millions and even billions of people from all around the whole globe, are absolutely tired and fed up of the kings, queens, emperors, etc. Taxpayers are absolutely fed up!!!

Al Jazeera, please, be more rigorous. People actually booed the Prime Minister who run away. The King will carry on tomorrow visiting other villages.

Why was he booed, he's doesn't have executive function, only symbolic. Hardly makes sense to me.

They threw mud at him! 😮 A sight I'd never thought I'd see... What an abysmal response by the Spanish government 😥

The king finally could talk with people, he managed the situation. The president run away as a rat 100% terrified. He would be fallen on the ground (the mood) if his guards wouldn't took him. The images are there. The king face the problem, the president escapes as a coward rat.

Usually this chaos happens in developing countries, I was a bit shocked that the government there is as incompetent as in my developing country.

The Prime Minister and Cabinet ran away, while the King and Queen stayed to absorb all the feelings of fear, frustration, and desperation of the people of Valencia.

People were not angry against the King, but against President Pedro Sánchez, Sánchez run away because people were throwing rocks TO HIM not the King, the King stayed and people complained to him ABOUT SANCHEZ GOVERNMENT and how they left the people alone.
