Thank you to Australia’s aged care workers

As the first sector to benefit from a national approach to mandatory vaccinations, the aged care workforce has stepped up to the plate and is showcasing extraordinary commitment and leadership as the vaccine rollout continues. The uptake in vaccinations has provided a blueprint for other sectors to follow. To date, 98.2 per cent of residential aged care workers have received a first dose of a COVID 19 vaccine. 79.5 per cent of workers are fully vaccinated. These rates are higher than those across the community and reflects the determination of staff and administrators. It also represents one of the highest workforce vaccination rates in the world. To the workers who rolled up their sleeves, to the managers, administrators and unions - we say thank you. It is another step toward protecting yourselves and those you care for.
