Palpatine told Dooku to kill Padme, Dooku hired Jango, who hired a changeling assassin who then sent a droid which deployed poisonous bugs to kill Padme... Moral of the story is that if you want a Senator dead, either do it yourself or groom her Jedi husband into becoming a Sith Lord, and have his Jedi master Aura Farm when she's trying to talk him off the ledge, forcing him to angrily Force Choke her on a planet that is one massive volcano, then drain her life force by using the Dark Side of the Force
