Hah, my late husband did not want a dog. I did. We compromised and we were getting a dog. He said it must be female and 30 pounds or smaller. We had to compromise again and we came home with a beautiful MALE boxer/American bulldog mix, about 68 pounds, named Bojangles 😅 really, his picture captured my heart. My husband was adamant this was MY dog and he wanted no part of this. I totally didn't come back in the next day from taking the trash out to my husband and dog cuddling on the couch watching TV. Was told to keep quiet and mind my business lmao. I miss my husband dearly (7 years now) but I still have my sweet dog my husband swore up and down he didn't want anything to do with and ended up loving to bits anyway.

A lot of people who don't want pets do so because they know the irresponsible people around them very well. It's my case. I told my wife that if she could keep a plant alive for 1 year, my son could get a dog. The plant did not survive and today I am the one who takes care of an adorable puppy.

Dads never want dogs because once upon a time, they had one and it died. My dad was FURIOUS when I got my dog. he said it would cause NOTHING but problems. jokes on him, my dog assimilated into my home and lifestyle like a dream. I still think about the time he came over and sat on the floor and just pet my pupper for a solid 30 mins. I said nothing, but he just looked at my dog with so much love. yes, one day my dog will die. one day he will cross the rainbow bridge and I may never get to see him ever again, but to know I gave this dog the best love and experiences in life....knowing that he brought he endless compaionship and love.... it makes the pain always worth it.

‘Yes yes we will look after it, I promise’ they said. I said ‘I don’t want the responsibility.’ They said ‘no we will look after it I swear.’ I didn’t believe them and but I was overridden. They worked, went out and partied and travelled overseas with not a worry. No food was bought, vets bills paid, medication or grooming as they were out there doing what they wanted. They didn’t walk them, play with them or feed the on time and there was no training, no boundaries or routines established. I did it as I loved each animal as I with them ached when they were hurt, sat up with them when they were sick and then had to take them to the vet as they were so much in pain there was nothing for it but the rainbow bridge. I stayed until their last breath. Do not say you will look after an animal and then leave it up to someone else. I’m an old lady and I’m tired of picking up when people don’t step up. It’s infuriating and insulting so please don’t treat people this way and especially the animals that you think you want.

Weirdly, I was the dad who didn’t want a dog, except I was a teen girl. I wasn’t used to puppies and I knew it would be a big responsibility. I was annoyed with her at first but 9 years later I love this sweet baby. 😊
