Evolution of Ridley's Voice (1986-2018)

This is a compilation of a few Ridley noises from every mainline Metroid game (plus Smash Bros) up until this video's release. I didn't include the Ridley Robot from Zero Mission because a) it doesn't roar and b) it isn't actually Ridley. However, I did include a bonus clip for fun.

I love how Ridley is canonically intelligent enough to speak, but he just doesn't. Maybe his vocal cords are incompatible? Maybe he just chooses to be mute? Who knows.

Fun fact, Ridley is capable of speech, he just really likes screaming because it makes him seem more like the monster he is.

I remember when I learned that ridley wasn’t some mindless creature (most of the time)

And was in fact intelligent enough to speak and was the leader of the space pirates. Wish we’d see that in game since not everyone’s aware of the comics but whatever.

If Ridley ever had a voice and spoke in something like English, I envision him being voiced by Steven Blum, drawing inspiration from his role as Starscream in Transformers: Prime.

Thanks for this video; it's fantastic to finally hear clean rips of Ridley's Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion screeches without being obscured by music, missile firing, etc. like in every other video on YouTube. I suppose the only thing missing from this video would be Ridley's sounds from Nintendo Land.
