It's really simple. We still listen to 70's 80's and 90's music now, folks back in the 50's did the same thing with older music. 20's and 30's songs were their classics, and it never stopped being good music either.

After playing these games alot you begin to wonder, was Rapture actually a nice city to live in before all the splicing madness? :o

As I explained for your other comment, "Rapture was constructed around 1948, and after it was completed Andrew Ryan cut off all contact with the surface. That means that people in the city didn't have access to any songs from the surface that were made after about 1950."

I think this is my favorite song played on the radio. It makes me laugh for some reason. So catchy.

Boy, that really helps the video game's story line. A completely cut off "utopian" society that turns on itself thanks to arrogance and genetic mishaps.
Thanks for th information!

Because when everyone was put in their, it was the 50's, and Andrew Ryan didn't let anything go in or out, which why Fontaine had a business in smuggling, because he owned the fisheries. It mentions in the book that Bill McDonaugh hears a rumor that rock n roll is starting(which is around the downfall of rapture)

If you can, try to find a book called BioShock: Rapture, which is about before Rapture fell

Used the iHome and set it to "iPod", then just set it back to that song every night.

And I think the book mentions the smuggling of records... but I don't remember exactly.

My God - this song is amazing.
I asked this question on another BioShock 2 song, but I thought I'd ask it here too.
BioShock 2 takes place in 1960. Does anybody know why the video game producers chose music from the 1920s, '30s, and '40s?
