I don't understand, coqui frogs are harmless. They aren't plant or crop eaters, they are insectivores, meaning the eat bugs. Coqui are actually really great for keeping insect populations down. Plus they make for great night time ambient noise, like crickets. Frankly, I'd rather have a bunch of coqui frogs then a mass of mosquitoes and other bugs.

Edit: I just double-checked and confirmed, coqui frogs eat fire ants, roaches, and other arthropod bugs. So they are very useful good frogs. They do not eat crops or plants, that is a lie.

El Coqui has always lived on Isla Borinquen, and the Island is still green. Trouble is some people find it annoying when they start chirping in concert at night. To us Boricuas' their song at night is a relaxing lullaby. So I suggest Native Hawaiians' should come together on the side of preservation. Don't allow chemicals to be sprayed all over Beautiful Hawaii, that is what will harm the eco system. Trust me, it will do more harm than good, and it will not get rid of El Coqui (Life finds a way, Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park)). Since my childhood in Borinquen, I was told El Coqui could not survive anywhere else but Puerto Rico (global warming deniers take note), now mother nature has blessed another Island people with El Coqui. Enjoy her song, connect with nature. HELLO!

This is hilarious! In Puerto Rico, the Coquí frog is to us what the Bald Eagle is to the US, a national symbol and pride. We actually sleep to the sound of coquí frogs and love them for their sound. Meanwhile it’s considered a threat and dangerous in Hawaii? Ok…

How did the frogs get here from Big Island?

So there is still the 2nd most destructive invasive animal problem in Hawaii but no one wants to do any real progress about it! it's the feral cat!

WTF? Grow a set Oahu…. We have them all over Big Island, it’s white noise at night get over it. Why kill them ?

They killed it just because it is a frog and people from northern climates don’t like amphibians and reptiles that much sadly. So many other invasive species cause immense damage, yet they are viewed as normal.

You state of confusion have done nothing on our island it took 30 years for the coqui to finally arrive making its way to in WAIOHINU from the other side ! You can spend millions on poison to keep down weeds poison that can affect our health as well your workers who wear no protection when spraying tons of gallons but not a thing to bring back the beauty of the peaceful Hawaiian evenings in WAIOHINU KA’U MOKU o KEAWE
