Finally! Someone speaking not just one sided and talking about for some people fiber is good and some not!

I've never heard the term "bacteria antagonist". Brilliant way to think out of the box and assess without a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Fiber on keto for 4 months gave me daily diarrhea. My lifelong IBS-D only worsened. Thank God for carnivore! Middle Tennessee Rita ❤

Mary Ruddick explains, with remarkable clarity, why the 'eat more fiber' lobbyists are short sighted and are likely HARMING their patients - after all, if you don't have any health/digestion/pooping issues, you're not likely to be seeing a clinician for help! Mary's counsel is vital for folks to appreciate that they must try a range of approaches to cure themselves. Love her to the moon and back! Thanks for having her on Jesse!❤

I really enjoyed this clip. So here is the summary:

Fiber's Role: Fiber can be beneficial, problematic, or neutral for health, depending on an individual's microbiome condition. People with compromised microbiomes (e.g., due to antibiotics or lack of natural exposure) may react negatively to fiber, as it can feed harmful bacteria, producing toxins rather than health-promoting byproducts. It is best to be avoided completely for those people.

Microbiome Diversity: True health depends on the types of bacteria present, not just diversity. The microbiome includes all body surfaces, not just the gut.

Microbiome Reset: For those with significant health issues due to an imbalanced microbiome, a lengthy dietary reset involving no carbohydrates (to starve harmful bacteria) may be necessary. This “reset” can allow healthy bacteria to recolonize, promoting better health. In some individuals it could require two years of no fiber, no sugar etc diet.

Bacterial Antagonists: For less severe cases, targeting harmful bacteria by introducing beneficial bacterial antagonists (those that can compete with and eliminate harmful strains) may suffice.
( I wish she gave the names of those bacteria strains. anybody knows?)

Testing and Assessment: She generally avoids microbial testing, preferring observational assessments and specific tests like the SpectraCell or NutraEval for cellular health, or parasite and iodine tests for specific issues. She prefers symptom based approach to treat her patients.

This just tied everything together for me regarding what i'm seeing/hearing about carnivore diet and why so many are adjusting it. Essentially, if I have this correct, ground zero, the roots to all problems stem from micobiom/bacteria. If you have a bad balance and causing you issues, you can kill the bad stuff and bring back peace to the galaxy via starving the bad bacterial of fuel, being carbs/sugar, though the carnivore diet. This leads to quick healing as a healthy balance of microbiom is reestablished. Once healthy again, one can introduce more foods, focusing on feeding the good bacteria, such a fermented veg and such.

You see so much skepticism around the diet and it suatainability and you see hard core promoters rethinking its protocols. I'm hearing here that it should be more of a quick fix tool to hit the reset button on your microbiom, so you can grow a new healther one. It's not supposed to be the long term solution. I've never thought this way before. I wonder if it'll work for my T1D and Hashimotos.

I think why most people feel bad on different fiber is pesticide contamination and lack of microbes to process different fibers.
So what left is stripped carbs, fat and meat.

I have absolutely no idea what to take away from this video. Other than too, perhaps, buy into her program.

I wasn’t breast fed, had strep throat every Christmas from 5 to 11 years old, taking penicillin, a mild case of psoriasis, at 16 my stomach had painful gas problems with certain foods like cheese . I used a grapefruit concentrate extract used that for awhile thinking I had yeast overgrowth and it did stop the gas pains. Well now at 60 I’ve Parkinson’s which you loose sense of smell first and bowl motility next, also People with PD also are missing or have to much of certain microorganisms. I’m wondering if Mary has worked with anyone with PD. Thank you.

Why would my dog get a UTI from eating beef? It was local grass fed. It happened several times until I finally realized what was causing them. Thanks for your response.
