The Switch 2 May Outperform the Steam Deck but it doesn’t matter

switch 2 will have advanced graphics

it doesn’t matter since people built up massive steam libraries over 3 generations

switch was great at the beginning because it could run 360/ps3 games great but when they started porting ps4 game things fell apart

steam deck has no problem with that gen

also if you’re fine not playing Nintendo games it’s dumb to not get a steam deck oled instead

Steam Deck owners could care less about what Nintendo does

No mainstream console could ever replace the Steam Deck.

The amount of freedom the Steam Deck allows is unfathomable compared to anything Nintendo, MS or Sony would ever offer. Even if the Switch 2 was twice as powerful, it would mean nothing because it'll be a locked-down PoS that Nintendo forces you to play their way.

I think Nintendo has every right to feel threatened by the Steam Deck, but Valve won't feel the same about the Switch. I think that says everything you need to know. :)

Silly as it sounds, being able to play Fallout 3 & 4 and Oblivion on the go is still gold for me.

Even if the switch 2 ends up being more powerful than the Steam Deck, the deck will still win for me hands down because of it's features.

A few months ago. Steam deck broke 30k verified games. It gas over 80k games on steam. Nintendo 10k.

I bought the Steam Deck to extend the use of my overgrown Steam Library and many hours of desktop PC gaming. Nintendo can't really compete with that unless they come out with a "must have" exclusive - and I'm old enough that that's not likely to happen.

I think the steam deck is Valve’s safe zone at the moment. Steam deck is the reason why i love playing games again and that goes for 99% of people who own one. When the SD2 is ready to come out i know it’s going to be a monster. I’m guessing it’ll have easy VR compatibility allowing you to use any vr headset you want just like the controllers. Steam deck is king.

I got this fancy gaming PC and a whole bunch of systems but I use the deck most of the time just for the convenience of having all these these games on the go but also the really great controls. Valve is a company which I never really felt screwed over by. I think the only thing better would be like something more pocketable, maybe lower spec and smaller screen size.

The Steamdeck, Valve and Steam are the complete opposite of Switch and Nintendo.

The deck had the benefits of a pc over a console. It can even play switch games. Steam is also consumer friendly. A complete opposite of Nintendo's draconian mentality.

two different markets, Nintendo doesn't even acknowledge its competing against others anymore. they have their own niche and its working for them.
a Switch system is made primarily to run Nintendo Switch exclusive games with 3rd party and ports for second fiddle.
a Deck is made for PC library

So I had my switch since March 13th 2017 (10 days after official launch as my country was no officially supported ) and I love it as it was one of a kind. Nothing came close and my gaming pc was old. I played on my switch for years and years but then I got a gaming pc and steamdeck and the rest is history . I started to remember how smooth all those 3rd party indie games felt on the deck vs switch and right now my switch is just docked in front of my tv…heck I have the breath of the wild two and I haven’t started it as yet … been gaming on steamdeck and pc much more. I think the new switch 2 will be good but the steamdeck has really nothing to worry about

Of course the switch 2 won't kill the deck, they barely compete directly, they will have completely different approaches.

The only reason Bungie wont support Linux and Steam deck, is they hate it with a burning passion. They have a personal vendetta towards Steam Deck Users.

I don’t think they even compete with each other. I mean the deck still has no retail presence, and that impact quite a bit. But it also has no mindshare when it comes to the casual audience that would buy a console. Nintendo first party games are gonna propel the console even if people who don’t care for Nintendo games don’t buy it. I’m waiting for the SW2 and the Deck 2.
