One Last Dance (MMM)-TJ JACKSON 3D animation

Here is our entry for TJ Jackson & Nou Lee’s contest on MMM album. Our video is about that time where the Magic and Mystery are now only a Memory.

The power of music is that every heart can understand and relate differently to the same song. While we liked the idea of gansters in love, when we heard the whole album, our first feeling was the kind of one-side, toxic relationship.
So for the contest, we’ve been inspired by our first feeling and we took just the final part of what we imagined into that 45s short video. To create it, we had to dive into MMM’s story like we never did before, trying to feel every lyric, every beat… and understand the feelings to put them into images.

Everything is created by ourselves with Blender, Unreal Engine & Krita.

Leïa sculpted the characters with Blender trying to get a cartoonish version of TJ & Nou, then rigged them through Metahuman. She modified manually the textures with Krita to get a better likeness and then she created TJ’s hair style to import it into Unreal later.
Then Lucy has been able to start animating both of the characters. She used references of her and our dad dancing to get the perfect timing, and then she animated TJ & Nou’s dance from scratch. After this, she created the facial expression, trying to express the feelings through their faces.
Meanwhile, Lyne has worked on creating the whole environment from the architecture to the lighting and camera moves. When Leïa and Lucy are done, she was able to put all their work together and add the animated dress for Nou.
