Pairing Puyo Puyo with Tetris is such a perfect combination. Puyo Puyo has always suffered from a cliff-like learning curve, whereas Tetris is easy to pick up and everyone knows how to play it already, so it can provide training wheels and let beginners feel like they're at least playing the game.

I was a huge fan of the original Puyo Puyo Tetris, so this is an easy snag for me. I'm also happy this one got an XBOX ONE release internationally :D

I became obsessed with the series after it sunk its teeth into me with Super Puyo Puyo Tsuu last year. I rank that game up alongside Planet Puzzle League, Tetris DS and Meteos as my favorite action puzzlers ever.

It's a bummer to hear that PPT2 is little more than the same, but most of the additions I care about - more story and Puyo-only online - are luckily there.

Now if only we can get true localizations of the original quadrilogy. By that I mean remasters of the CD versions featuring full English dub and localization.

Puyo Puyo has more complexity than Tetris IMO. Setting up those chain reactions is a science. Kirby's Avalanche and Mean Bean Machine are my favorite 16-bit iterations I still play to this day!

I don't know but there is something about the presentation of the ingame I don't feel is right and makes me prefer the first game over this one, but still I will pick it when I have a chance.

Looks like a decent game but I think I may wait for a good sale. ( Maybe between $20-$30. ) I always love Tetris & Puyo Puyo.

6:13 There sort of was a Puyo Puyo and Columns crossover game just named Columns Deluxe in the west at least. However it was an IOS only mobile game from 2008 with it being an two in one package of both games with no modes putting them together or anything.

i just wanna see a tetris fever mode. not like big bang where it's literally just the part where the board is set up for you to do, i mean like fever in champions.

One of my friends was just talking about Puyo Puyo Tetris. One thing I wonder is when and why English speakers started calling it "Poyo Poyo". My friend said it like that, and pretty much every English speaker I've heard utter this name does the same. However, I lived in Japan and studied Japanese, and it's most definitely "Puyo Puyo" (not "Poyo Poyo", well, at least for them...and at least as far as the spelling (but not pronunciation) goes in English as well. Strange.

This seems like it could be a great way to learn how to play Puyo-Puyo! I understand Tetris, and I understand other matching games like this, but Puyo-Puyo 2 on the NSO kicked my butt because I couldn't wrap my head around the counter system.

I'll stick with 1. Yes, they added more. But some stuff lack polish or downgraded. We went from characters yelling "Sega! Tetris!" to just the "DING!" for Sega logo. And the fact that the game actually came out unfinished similar to the Mario Sports Switch games due to characters that were meant to be in the game indicating that the game was meant to come out in 2021, but Sega has rushed the devs to release it for the holiday season.

Finally a POSSIBLE reason for me to get a PS5... I say possibly because it's also on PS4 & XB1 and probably look and play the same. Keep in mind that I don't have the first Puyo Puyo Tetris yet either (long story).
Looks cool for what it is, even if it's not much of a difference. But... I'll import an Astro City Mini first, which has the first two Puyo Puyo's in arcade-perfect form. 😊
