I have an iPhone 8 plus currently on iOS 14.3 and when I did a hard reset following your instructions, a slide to power off button shows but I continued to hold it and waited until the apple logo came on. It still works! Thanks man! Even though this video is only a few years old but still relevant a few years later!

Since they changed the hard reboot sequence on iphone8, any insights on resetting or completing a hard network reset? Specifically, where the phone reconnects to the area cell network. Previously, when travelling coast to coast, it was always recommended you resync to the towers/network in new destination for best connectivity.

I think it has to do with disabling faceID on the iPhone X which requires the user to press and hold the power (side) button and either the volume up or down button

This method puts the 8+ in SOS mode... which is ridiculous enough since it's unlikely you'll have time for some complex keystroke/hold sequence in the event you need to call 911...
