The man who plays Negan is an amazing actor. I can see the rage in his eyes when he saw what the dude had done

Negan having an extremely human moment. He always said he never killed kids. So when Brandon did, he exacted revenge. And then in a later episode rescuing Judith. Just proved he's not entirely bad.

This was Negan metaphorically killing his past self. I actually really enjoyed this episode it was the true turning point of his character from villain to anti-hero

For once, you can see sadness on negans face, not because the kid and mom died, but specifically because he knew it was all his fault. If negan was never born, not literally but the persona, brandon would have never been as crazy MOST LIKELY.

Seeing Negan’s jaw tense up slightly, his survival instinct kicked in and not only saw Brandon as a threat, but as himself at the beginning of his insanity. That cold dead stare, all too familiar with it. He had to kill ‘Negan’, and he will not hesitate to do it again. Killing his past incarnates.

Negan watched a kid becoming a successor for his old self, and he didn't like it. So he killed him. Another Negan would appear, traumatizing others if he didn't kill Brandon.

Wouldnt call it redemption arc, cause key people still dont forgive him, but he managed to 'come back' and face the horrors of his actions
