I think 1.2 mil is more then enough and that point they should support V2G and V2L so the car has dual purpose. CA has NEM3 and will pay for energy feed from a battery. I'd like to see one of these batteries put to the test. Give them to a very ambitious taxi cab driver or uber driver and rack up those miles.

He said nobody knows how long they will last, then he rambles on about 400, 00 km and so on. But that statement also means they might only last a year or two. Repeat: Nobody knows how long they will last.

If you follow history, Vikings never had a good track record for performing good math. Let me explain:
Half of 500K is 250K, not 150K.

Repeat this message every month for four years. Sam is the man.

Nobody is telling us how long the MOTORS will last. They are a mechanical o in part - bearings will wear. You can’t disregard them - it’s not just the battery we have to consider.

Viking, why not talk about the poor bastard that used his model 3 as an Uber. Ended up having to pay out of pocket for the 3rd battery in less than 100K miles.

But thats only if you are paying the Chinese EV price. If Europe and US starts to put over 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs thats another calculation. China will benefit more than the western world.

Depends on the vehicle really. A Defender will do 1.0M km and it’s by far the longest lasting make, with three quarters of all Defenders still in the road. Simple, strong cars have a lot going for them, whereas gadgetry is always eventually an Achilles heel.

You have to maintain the suspensions more and replace tires twice since EV are on average 500kg heavier it's like moving your car with 8 people in it 100% of the time

With Oil changes and million is no problem.

Volvo million

The game c hanger is to replace the battery with a motor and gas tank. Range issues solved!

That's great and all but the power grid in most countries are struggling to get up with present demand now and there's no way to support ev fleets on mass so the hybrid isn't going anywhere.

He a clown this guy, never says anything about low miles depleting poor quality tesla, think he works for them, who going to buy a tesla when you can buy a quality nio which you can swap battery and charge as well, top quality, top looks, and no battery worries, makes tesla look like an old Nokia phone

So battery technology must be enhanced faster

Not if you live in an area where rust is a major problem.

There will be battery degradation and range loss over that time.

Largely irrelevant as either ICE or battery will significantly longer than the rest of the car. In the UK, an average vehicle is driven around 7, 400 miles a year - nearly 20 years mileage before an ICE vehicle's engine fails the battery pack meanwhile may well live for 40 to 60 years. After 20 years, any car will be in worth almost nothing.

Nobody drives vehicle that long . Battery packs are going to lose 60% of their capacity about 10 years from calendar degradation, and cycling degradation. In 10 years the average person would drive only 120, 000 mi.

Even a heavy user only drives 200 to 300, 000 mi in that time. You have to be on the road all day everyday for work to drive more

ICE cars last on average only 150k? Get real. I love my Tesla model 3 over my ICE cars but your characterization if ICE longevity is simply wrong.

Where are you pulling these figures from.

Will an EV still be usable after 20 years.
I see quite a few 20 year old ICE vehicles on the road but not many 10 year old EV's
