The fact that he hired the Japanese crew with experience in sengoku period dramas is fantastic!

So glad that Sanada is finally making it on the international stage, not as some secondary character or some cliche villain, but front and center.

I worked on the show frequently as a Stunt performer and Hiroyuki Sanada was there both performing ALL the time and he was with us advising us and I was SO honored he was with us the whole time. The entire cast were all so gracious and fantastic and the result is beautiful to say the least.

The fact that he is a producer for the show makes me so much more invested.

Imagining Sanada finishing acting in a scene and then legging it across the studio to supervise another scene with a flock of assistants trying to take his swords and armour off is both hilarious and endearing.

I really hope Sanada gets an Emmy for this. I've been glued to the screen for all 3 episodes. Fantastic acting and stunning visuals. I don't think I've ever seen a show like this about the Sengoku period of Japan before.

In this chapter everyone was talking about how great Hiroyuki Sanada is, and then Asano proceed to brag that he knew him the longest. He's truly channeling his inner Yabushige.

Honestly, the idea of a Shogun remake had me mildly interested, but finding out Hiroyuki Sanada was not only involved in the project, but playing one of the lead roles instantly elevated the show to "must watch" status for me.

I grew up watching most of Hiroyuki Sanada’s films and to see him being in the forefront this time brings me so much joy! I’m glad he was given control of the production and I wish he’d get proper recognition for this. Nonetheless, congratulations! Two episodes in and it’s already winning!

He is a fantastic actor. Whenever he is on the screen even when he is silent, you can't help to pay attention to him. His subtles expressions say a lot. ❤

I met Hiroyuki in 2002 here in New Zealand when I was a 16 year old working on my uncles dairy farm.

They were filming here in Taranaki. We got to take pics with him and other cast members of the Last Samurai.
He was very gracious and spoke about the spiritual aspect of our land. Our ancestral mountain: Mt. Taranaki, doubled as Mt. Fuji in tLS.

Since then I have followed and watched nearly everything he’s been in.

I absolutely can’t wait to watch this series.
