The destruction of the Hosnian system sent aftershocks throughout the entire galaxy. This is a discussion of how Starkiller Base's obliteration of the Hosnian system affected the New Republic and the consequences it would have for the war between the New Republic/Resistance and the First Order.

Thank you for all of the answers to yesterday’s Force Points question! It wasn’t easy, but the correct answer was the Dwartii Sage Yanjon. The statute of Yanjon being knocked over amidst Palpatine’s destructive murder of Plagueis was described in the Introduction section of the novel Darth Plagueis by James Luceno!

Let me know if you liked how the First Order was presented in The Last Jedi and what you believe we’ll see take place in Episode 9 regarding the war with the New Republic/Resistance against the First Order. Thank you for the support everyone and I hope you all enjoy today’s video!

I wish that instead of being pansies, the galaxy rose up against the First Order like how they did against the Empire after Alderaan was blown up.

Was there just barely any first order forces on starkiller base? I understand the new republic being crippled far worse but the loss of starkiller base didn't seem to effect the first order at all

The First Order in TLJ was a comedy of errors, and their flaws and incompetence were on full display. With every conceivable advantage, they manage to, in order, lose a dreadnought, lose their leader, lose their flagship, lose multiple star destroyers, and lose the resistance survivors. This is of course after already having lost their superweapon in the last movie.

The galaxy should finally be able to see that instead of a competent replacement of the Empire out to bring order, the FO is a cabal of inexperienced fanatics, who constantly lose valuable military hardware to vastly inferior forces and who's only advantage, a cheap shot from across the galaxy, was instantly squandered.

One of the few things that i didn't like in the last Jedi, even thought it's more the force awakens's fault, it was how the New Republic was handled, i find very odd that the star wars movie that most defied tradition returned to the overpowered empire vs the hopeless rebels gimmick, i was hoping for a massive showdown betwen the New Republic and the First Order, and see how the republic fights a war without an evil sith lord pulling the strings, maybe if they had the New Republic fight in a last stand, after being severly weakned by the tragedy at hosnia, and lose would have been more interesting not only for the nice space battle but also for breaking the old film tradition of last stands always working, it would certanly have been better than the Finn scenes wich even thought i had no problems with it the more i think about it the more pointless it gets, but i understand where they came from but still the New Republic had a lot of potential and is sad that it was wasted .

Wish this was shown in the films. Having such context would have been pretty valuable in setting the overall mood for the situation the main characters are in.

Why did they move the capitol from Coruscant to the new system?

What happens in the galaxy after the Hosnian Cataclysm makes sense. The New Republic's political and military leadership has been eliminated and the huge majority of their fleet has been destroyed - chaos and confusion reign, especially so because the galaxy had experienced 30 years of peace and didn't even take the First Order seriously. Naturally, Snoke decided to strike immediately so as to get the most out of it and give what remains of the NR no time to recuperate.

The entire thing is brilliantly done by the FO, no doubt. But besides the planets who surrender or prefered the days of the Empire anyway, there must be those who resist. Security was mostly left to the individual worlds and sectors, as Bloodline established, and these forces need to come together with the Resistance (or is it the Rebellion again?). That will take time, however. I am also hoping that we see some remnants of the NR. The Hosnian system might have housed the vast majority of the fleet, but not it's entirety.

I am serious about that. The NR has been ridiculously blind to the FO's threat and got what it deserved. Now give them at least a little bit of redemption.

Hosnian is a fun word to say. LOL I don't know if I can say I like how the First Order has been portrayed either in TFA or TLJ. I mean, yeah...we saw them blow up the Hosnian system, but idk...I feel like what we've seen is a lot of incompetence. What baffles me is how in the world is the FO even successfully getting these super weapons built when they can't even effectively fight a few rebels in the Resistance? I mean, the best of the best of the FO looks completely incapable of almost anything at all, how are the rubes in charge of construction and security supposed to be keeping attack and destruction from happening before the weapons are even finished? I like the idea of the FO, and how it's portrayed in print, but on screen...ugh. Interesting video! Thanks for posting and have a great day! 😃

I have one question: How did the First Order subdue the galaxy if they lost their main instrument, the Starkiller Base? And how would they subdue a galaxy in days...

It will be interesting to see what happens as the First Order has pretty much won the galaxy, unless the resistance can find new allies they are done.

All the First Order did in The Last Jedi was follow 3 fleet ships and then some transports to Crait

Also, the First Order is probably underestimating the galaxy. One thing the New Republic did was let many worlds create many of their own militaries, which may be good for many of the core worlds, but not for the ones in the outer reaches of the galaxy.

the hossnians really loved the prequels and even named their children "jar jar"s, so everyone cheered. the order is also well funded because it introduced microtransactions to the unsuspecting galaxy, something even the empire thought was despicable

I kind of want to know what the first orders reaction was to the starkiller base destruction.

I bet there WILL be worlds that resist though. I bet Mon Calamari, even if it isn't in the Republic, started going into FULL PRODUCTION mode as soon as Hosnian Prime was destroyed. That is why I hope we see Viscounts in episode 9, and at the end there is like a huge battle for Coruscant, since I assume Coruscant will resist the First Order too.
