Hellooooooooo guys! i'm back, in the middle of the hottest summer on record to talk about sunscreen. SPF usage among darkskinned people is pretty low... but why? It's still very important to wear it. for many reasons... just not skin cancer... but a bunch of other reasons. lol

I am a Anthropology major and I love your comment "evolution didn't account for colonialism", love your channel and personality.

I just have to say this: you have a high emotional intelligence and are well read. Yes, skin care is your field but you clearly are very aware about current affairs... the fact that you can incorporate colonialism, supporting local businesses and scientific journals while talking about skin care shows that you read widely! Keep going girl🔥🔥

Grlll the struggle is too real. I wish brands would make more dark tinted sunscreen..everyone should be able to wear sunscreen every day!!

I've been on the hunt for a mineral sunscreen that didn't make me look like a ghost, and I FINALLY found one. It's from the Korean brand Purito, and it's the Comfy Water Sun Block. It's absolutely amazing, and doesn't leave a white cast at all.

I use the NEUTROGENA Ultra Sheer SPF 30 and I’m NIGERIAN. It suits me perfectly, doesn’t break me out & doesn’t leave a tint. I do agree that it’s rare for black girls to get skin cancer.

I just found you like randomly. Yay!! We need spf and I live in Connecticut. I minored in bio medical engineering. Let’s wear sunscreen 🧴! I use the Missha 50 safe block. Doesn’t make me ashy.

You changed my life with #60second rule. I shared it with all my friends. LIFE CHANGING
I’m part of the people that don’t apply sunscreen 1. Because I believed we don’t need it cause of our skin complexion
2. Sunscreen is quite expensive in Namibia
But now I’ll definitely invest in it. THANK YOU NAI. ♥️♥️

Thank you for explaining this so clearly. Fantastic video. I currently use The Body Shop Skin Defence, SPF 50. It leaves your skin glowing, application is light, bottle lasts a long time. I might try the glossier spray to keep in my bag for on the go.

As a mixed race person I grew up being told I didn’t need sunscreen even though I am white passing. Now I fight with my mom constantly about sunscreen because she refuses to wear it but also complains about wrinkles 😑. I love that you’re encouraging people of all tones to wear sunscreen 🧴!

I learned that SPF on dark skin doesn’t prevent melanoma 🤯, definitely new information for me. The other thing is that I use sunscreen all year around, it helped even my skin tone and prevented hyperpigmentation. My favorite chemical sunscreen is ‘Beet the Sun’ by KraveBeauty and my favorite mineral sunscreen is MyChelle Sun shield liquid in Natural Tan ( get it from Amazon). Thank you for sharing awesome information. Spread the love ❤️ and spread that sunscreen 🧴.

Thank you for getting me into skincare! You’re the reason my hyperpigmentation has improved and now I never miss a beat with that SPF 35 or higher 💗

I can't thumb this video up enough. Thank you, thank you, thank Finally someone talking sense re skin cancer and brown skin. Recently, Caroline Hirons had a guest on who specialises in treating dark skin. She repeated the same mainstream info which makes no sense to me. I've asked her and Dr Dray why we don't see high rates of melanoma in people with dark skin. Both came back with the same mantra. It's as if neither took the time to think and use common sense.

Furthermore; as you pointed out, the type of skin cancer dark skinned people get is usually on areas not exposed to the sun. I got no answer from either re this. I believe they are doing a great disservice because dark skinned people will be following advice to slather on sunscreen in the hope it will protect them from melanoma and consequently fail to check for signs of the type of skin cancer we do get.

Dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN those moles Morgan Freeman has) is very common as we age. Do you think sunscreen can limit the quantity? Also should we check them for changes too?

Hope this video is shared far and wide. THIS is the video which needs to be shared.
