My first blind playthrough of Star Trek Resurgence, slightly edited for length but a live let's play stepping into the shoes of Commander Jara Rydek and Crewman Carter Diaz on the USS Resolute, a Centaur Refit Class science vessel that has fallen on hard times.
Miranda undergoes a medical evaluation in sickbay while Jara breaks into the mines to uncover a T'Kon trove of technology.

Star Trek is such a fun universe to imagine being inside of because it's a much a work out for the brain and the heart as the body. Use your head and you can solve most problems

It’s such a shame this game isn’t very widely known, it’s a great Trek story.

This is starting to feel like back in the day having to wait a week per episode off Star Trek
You are really good at this

Ah yes, handing a known-to-be potentially lethal alien device to your chief engineer with zero explanation beyond "Take a look at that!"
What could possibly go wrong?

When watched as a series mode, 'Resurgence' is way better than most 'Trek' series produced by Paramount nowadays (w/exception of SNW and Terry Matalas-produced "Picard" Season 3).

You've ruined me for other Star Trek content. I watched another playthrough of the game and every time Rydak went to say "Open fire" I expected her to say "Hale them" followed by a sick guitar riff and an exterior shot of the ship firing everything.

This episode was amazing, this game story is so Trek with hard decisiones but so entangling!

Also... we need a blooper video on how many deaths you took xD

The "I'm starting to see the utility of a phaser." line is so telling.
Basically, you can implement stun settings on disruptors as well, Romulan disruptor pistols for example do feature them, and it's supposedly not really a refinement of the technology so much as it's just dialing back the power to merely overload the victim's nervous system with lots and lots of pain, which is why these are more unsafe than the phaser low stun settings.
The fact that the disruptor rifles the guards are using doesn't feature stun settings is not a limitation of technology, it's just that whomever designed them wanted them to be able to kill and nothing else.

Not nanomachines, the crystal tech is quantum assembled, it literally takes matter from the surrounding area, breaks it down to loose subatomic particles or even quarks, and then reassembles it according to a preprogrammed blueprint, if you put this tech into any kind of matter whatsoever, it could create whatever it was built to create, it can even make things that nanomachines can't. With nanotech it needs to have a source of whatever matter it needs, so metal for example, to make more of itself. With quantum assemblers, they can eat common dirt and poop exotic matter if they are programmed to do that.

The keycard is using some flavour of near field communication, that's stone age tech for this point in history, hundreds of years old. And the motion sensors are literally WORSE than the passive IR motion detectors we use today. It is very odd that they would have a detection grid right inside the door that that guard just exited through though, but maybe he's got some other IFF-like dongle on his belt or whatever that tells the grid to ignore any trigger events while he's passing?

I'm getting some serious forerunner vibes from this.

I tell you what, I had my revelations about this current iteration of STO, but this this really well done. And dare I say… much more in line thematically and pace wise with the network TV shows. Also the suspense in this episode rivaled some of the best TNG episodes.

42:05 - 42:45 That was a scary moment indeed. If they disappeared into nothingness like the Alydian Admiral, it would've been an early game over 😏😒

Was genuinely surprised at how not-awful the Mary Jane stealth section was here
