I’m just an occasional drywaller but I have always used a straight knife and pan until my last project several months ago. Ripped out the crumbling plaster walls of my family room and replaced with drywall. I hate cleaning the pan and went with a 14” hawk and swapped the knife for the Marshalltown 13 in. x 5 in. Golden Stainless Steel curved finishing trowel with the Durasoft handle. Thank you so much for for your prolific use of the hawk and trowel to convert me. I will never go back to the pan unless I’m mixing hot mud. I’m very satisfied with the Marshalltown trowel. Trowel was $57 U.S.

I've watched you feather many an edge in your videos and I swear I can actually SEE the difference in this one. BTW I love all my M'town tools and I'm loving your new one with you!

I got the same one a few days ago, but the 12" version. Never plastered before, but been watching a bunch of videos(a lot of yours) before I start the job.

Switched to trowel starting with the one you just got about a few months ago. Spent hours deciding on what on I wanted. I absolutely love it! Glad to hear I got a good one

Marshalltown 14x5" Golden SS Drywall Trowel (bought at Lowes) for $47 USD (~$60 CAD). After spreading carpet glue on floors for many years, the size seemed just right. Might feel differently about that after doing ceilings! I know there's always better, but this is the best trowel I've ever had for sure. Still a mudding newbie but kept 99% of it on the hawk and/or on the walls. Got to give the trowel some of the credit. Marshalltown also makes GREAT 4" and 6" SS taping knives--the blade and handle are like one, seamless, integrated piece. Amazing. So smooth. Easy to keep clean. FINALLLY, the tip Ben gave about the curve in the taping knives was pure gold. Made all the difference. Thank you!

I'm finishing my detached garage (just moved into a new house) and have been watching tons of your videos. I've been using a knife and hawk so far, but this trowel has found its way into my Amazon cart. I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Feathered. I love Curry trowels, I have tried just about every trowel on the market and I always go back to curry. I won't use anything else. When I heard they stopped making them I bought multiples in different sizes. I have around 18 to last me a lifetime. They are the best imo.

I have two stainless steel trowels, both marshalltown. I'm still getting used to using a trowel, but the one room and hallway I skim-coated I was really happy with. I did take the sharp point off the corners, but just a very small rounding of them.

Grew up using marshalltown trowels. Have been slowly moving into level 5 knives and skim blades. Like em a lot.
Oh yeah and use to skate my beloved indy 151's!

Level 5 has some really nice trowels. I'm using the Ultraflex .04mm. Good for me who doesn't have a lot of hand strength for most trowels yet.

Hahah I love the truck reference. That is definitely the independent trowel.

I have the exact same one! Home Depot sells them for $79, these are great. The handle is still clean on mine, no mud sticks to the rubber

Lovely trowel. All I use for plastering (uk) is carbon steel. So much nicer to use than stainless and the finish is far superior when to a flexi trowel

LEVEL 5 Flex .4mm and UltraFlex .3mm are the pinnacle of trowels. The whole design is impeccable making most these brands you see in stores obsolete.. no need to break-in any of the trowels because the blade has machined beveled edges..

Love your videos… suggestion: have you considered adding dye to your mud so it contrasts and is easier for the camera to see when contrasted against drywall/white primed/painted wall/ceiling?
