The Western Wall is not the holiest site for the Jews

It is the most holy sight for Jews but it is only the 3rd holiest mosque to Muslims.
It was actually captured by Israel from Jordan during the 1967 war but instead of destroying the mosque, and excavating the Jewish temple, they kept the mosque placing it under a custodianship administered by the Jordanians. There are 11 entrances and non Muslims are only allowed access thru one of them and only on certain days and times. Also, no one, Jews, Chriatians or any other religion is allowed to pray at the site. Do you think Muslims would've given the Israelis the same respect had the positions been reversed?

It is holy for Christians as well. It also holds a significant place in prophecy of Gods coming judgment of the sins of the world. One day the world will see God's fierce love for his chosen people, Israel, and for this land that He gave you.

People choose to ignore that when ancient armies conquered a region, they destroyed their sacred places and built on top of them as a sign of dominance. Remember that most of Roman aqueducts and roads were built with the stones from conquered cities.

Context: There was no temple nor jews when this dome of rock was built. 60% people living in the holy land are indigenous people who are converted muslims from Christianity/judaism. The rest 40% are europeans displacing the natives for 75 years.
