Scientists have long pondered how exactly life began here on Earth. Now, new research sheds light on Earth's creation, and the findings are not what you'd expect!

RNA Was a Key Ingredient in Primordial Soup That Led to Life
"How did we go from a lifeless Earth with no oxygen to a planet teeming with life and that essential element? Scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology have found one crucial clue: iron and RNA."

I can’t wrap my head around how molecules can randomly form together and make a living thing like bacteria it’s so complex

The biggest question of all is "why is there anything at all?"

If you think about it though, if life is a chemical occurrence, that fills a lot of holes and mysteries, but still doesn't answer how all existence came to be. For instance, if it was the big bang, how did what exploded come to be in the first place? And if it's God, where did God come from? was he created? There are still lots of paradox's that I don't think will be solved within my lifetime, or within the existence of mankind, at least, not by us.

I have a question... Before I start I just want to point out that I am completely with science when it comes to the big questions like "where did life start?" And what not but my question is that is bacteria was the first living specimen on earth.. Where did it's chromosomes come from and its DNA in order for it to form perfectly into a bacteria cell?

"There have indeed been many interesting and detailed experiments in this area. But the importance of this work lies, to my mind, not in demonstrating how nucleotides could have formed on the primitive Earth, but in precisely the opposite: these experiments allow us to see, in much greater detail than would otherwise have been possible, just why prevital nucleic acids are highly implausible. I want science to answer the question "Why is it that when I don't need something, I keep tripping over it (sometimes literally) but when it is utterly crucial that I find it right now, it's nowhere to be found?"

But how do we know that fully functional RNA was together in the primordial soup? And we cant get a sample of that original RNA before it ever had that first spark. its a cool theory but still makes the assumption that RNA was formed and had the same way of reacting to stimuli. Idk, what do you think?

God did it 250 years ago when HE created America.

Okay, how the water formed on the oceans? and how could it be specifically salty? if earth was a ball of molten compressed star dust..lol..?

so where did the components in soup come from? that methane, ammonia, carbon dioxide, iron etc

I was expecting to hear God but I heard a fairy tale about iron atoms instead

I was born and raised in a creationist household, and by the age of 13 I started asking questions. What I found was that every single question went in a loop until it eventually rounded back to something along the lines of "because God's God and we can't understand His plans" and "Have faith". By the time I was 17 that answer just didn't cut it anymore. So I turned to science, and I've found that to hold much more real world merit than anything I was ever told as a Christian. There are still many things we don't know about our universe but at least science ADMITS that we don't know a lot, unlike creationists who just point to God as an answer for anything we don't understand, as if it's the middle ages or something. It's the twenty first fucking century people, if the thought of someone having a plan for your life helps you fill the void of existential dread and helps you be happy, then good on ya, but quit shoving your beliefs down your children's throats.

That's a good information.

And I think the science is getting really close to the answers.

But every one answer opens the door for another 10 questions or the opertunity to explore something new.

Atheists have a problem here...RNA needs DNA...and DNA needs RNA...but DNA and RNA cannot create life by themselves either. There has to be a transcriber...Ribosomes...I love how he skipped that part. Ribosomes contain protein (which originally had to be made from DNA by RNA and Ribosomes (oh wait, they are not on the scene yet.) Another thing, where did the building blocks come from, the amino acids?

if in the primordial soup were the component of RNA ..then what happend that RNA WAS FORMED?
