In the hot summer, as a kid, my mom would keep the 4 of us busy making bread. We would all march it out to the car, putting it in the back ledge of the rear window, as the car had a black interior, creating a hot oven for the bread to rise. We would march back out there in 10 minutes to bring it back inside and punch it down. Repeat 2 or 3 times, then we cooked the bread. The car smelled like fresh bread.
