When someone knows how to design a space as well as you do, then they’re qualified enough to share design advice 😉

For someone who doesn't go to school for interior design, you definitely have the talent and I'm very impressed with your knowledge and your application on it for your living space.

You are not an interior designer but you explained the Scandi design perfectly than compared to other channels I’ve been to! Kuddos to you! 😃👌

About a decade ago, everything in my home had to have a scandi/minimalist look. I got bored with it, but I still love the style. To your point, I have three styles I use in my home that complement each other. My kitchen is Scandinavian, my living is an eclectic modern Danish style, and my bedroom uses elements of Art Deco. I feel I have more interest in my home without having to debate which style I must stick with.

Scandinavian with pops of lots of black speak to my soul! Your video definitely helps to put a name to my style when searching Pinterest for mood boards 😂

'Scandinavian' is mostly a rebranding of Danish Modern, which evolved from Mid-Centrury Modern. Both got their start from the Bauhaus movement in the early 1900s and evolved from there. Staple names such as Hans Wegner, and Charles Eames, Arne Jacobsen, Børge Mogensen and Isamu Noguchi all worked under the Bauhaus principle of taking the concepts of furniture, simplifying them to their elemental shapes, and reimagining them with modern materials and organic shapes. While some took the concept and refined it to 'organic modernism' to keep the warmth in the woods, and simple designs, the 'mid-century' designers embraced the zeitgeist of the atom, and almost avant-garde ideology of turning furniture into high art. That's where the sputnik lamp, marshmallow sofa, and atomic tract house neighborhoods like twin palms came in vogue. These styles don't really 'pull inspiration from each other' rather, they evolved from the same philosophy during the early 20th century.

Thank you for this Sabrina! I personally have lived and traveled all over Europe and worked and vacation in Scandinavia, more specific Norway, Denmark and Sweden. My style is heavily influenced by my travels in Scandinavia. Ilalso have incorporated a few mid-century elements throughout my home because of my love of clean lines. And yes you pronounced Hygge correctly. Its a warm and cozy feeling. I love thrifting for decor and l also shop online and shop in the clearance section in furniture stores.

Great video. I’m a mix of both. Light woods, black accent in living room. Dark wood and mix metals in the bed room. With a touch of plants in both. Target is my goto for accent furniture. You cannot beat an additional 5% off if you have a Target debit/credit card. And sometimes they’ll have an additional discount in cartwheel. West Elm has stunning pieces, the price point can be more than I want to spend at times. A lot of these sites carry the same items. Home Depot and Lowe’s sell furniture also.

Hey Sabrina! I love this video!! It’s a great representation of how two styles can exist in one space. I’m definitely mid century boho modern 😂😂..

Beautifully done as always. I honestly don’t know how to describe my style but I love your bedroom. My bedroom has a lot of black white and leather brown so I guess that’s where I fall as well.

Hygge is only used in Denmark and not in the rest of Scandinavia (had to make that clear as a Dane)😉Anyway this was a very well informed video, and yes your home is very typical Scandinavian Design (though I would say more heavily towards Danish Design ). Great advice!

Thank you for breaking down the components of both decor styles. I’ve struggled to figure out my style over the years but now I know I like my living room space to be mid century modern while my bedroom as light and airy as possible which is the Scandinavian style. Thank you 😊
