I love Scandinavian style, but I would add a little touch of color here & there. Soft blue, mint green, teal. I need more color than only neutrals.

Storage furniture is key to keep a space open and uncluttered. Scandinavian design has plenty of storage type good looking furniture. Storage bookcases with storage doors in lower part. Also plenty of nice looking consoles you can use in a dining area or living room, (I see you have some Nick).

Such a big difference between Scandinavian design and actual Scandinavians. 😅 they've all been nearly hoarders in my experience, more like Arne & Carlos. Including my own Swedish family.

I'd go mostly scandi but pair with soft blues, sage green and berry tones for accent

I like scandinavian but I'd add some bold colors. Sure use light wood flooring, light wood furniture, but then go for like a very dark green or even black walls.

My Auntie in the 60's did the Scandinavian thang, the furniture alongside the orange, brown, beige colours. Even then (I was 6) it felt so cold and looked so ugly to me lol. I'm, to this day, oversized, comfy furniture, throws, pillows, plants, pictures and little nik naks everywhere, cozy, cozy.
I'm the absolute opposite of you and your style but I love you and you're a hoot ❤

the sad thing is, that all these pictures are muted in colour. the natural colour of wood is much more powerful! do not underestimate that and the colours of the landscape outside the windows in the typical Scandinavian interiors

When they took Scandinavian Design out of the mall, there were other places to go, but they were just unobtainable, too expensive. I came home with a chair once, and my husband was so pissed! IKEA was just a facsimile. Everything was veneer.

I loathe fireplaces. It’s just yuppie tv and very like the black hole vibe of televisions in living rooms. Inefficient heating and warms on ly the part of the body that is closest to it. If you want atmosphere light a candle.
