For those that think I said only 1% speak Welsh. No. That’s not what I said.

when I said 99% of people speak English, that doesn’t mean only 1% speak Welsh. It means that 99% of the people can speak and understand English. Believe it or not, some people can speak multiple languages so just because most people speak and understand English in Wales, doesn’t mean they can’t speak Welsh. Didn’t think I would have to explain that, but next time I’ll be sure to elaborate 🤦🏽‍♂️

There is a Welsh inscription in the Washington memorial in DC: A stone at the 240-foot level of the monument is inscribed in Welsh: Fy Iaith, Fy Ngwlad, Fy Nghenedl, Cymry am byth (My Language, My Country, My Nation, Welsh forever). The stone, imported from Wales, was donated by Welsh citizens of New York.

I am Welsh. I love to hear people trying to pronounce Welsh names. These people were really good.

I’m a Welsh speaking Welshman. And there’s nothing worse than been called a Englishman, especially when it’s by an American, I then asked him if he was Canadian

I am Welsh (I live in Merthyr Tydfil, which is 24 miles north of the Welsh capital, Cardiff). Fair play: you guys did very well.

We Welsh are warm, welcoming people, so if any of you are ever in the UK, drop in and say hi. I would love to show you guys around and to introduce you to our culture.

Until then, diolch yn fawr 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇲 ❤️

As a proud Welsh-speaking Welshman, I was very impressed by how much the people in the video knew about our beautiful small country (the hidden gem of the UK) & how much effort they put in to learn more about it too. Excellent effort, Everyone! We Welsh always like it when people are interested in our culture, country & language because we don't get many visitors, usually (England & Scotland usually steal all the limelight 🤣). Wales will be waiting to welcome you, if you decide to visit one day 👍🏻😃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

hi James, interesting video especially them trying the welsh language lol! America could have been a welsh speaking country because 5 of the founding fathers were welsh who signed the declaration of independence, wanted to get away from England and everything English, and at your national monument in Washington at about the 240 foot level there's an inscription in stone that reads in welsh, Fy laith, Fy ngwlad, Fy Nghenedl, cymru am byth ( my language, my country, my nation, wales forever. so your mother tongue could have gone either way!

I'm from Wales and we have a lot of castles, rolling hills, beautiful countryside, history and loads of sheep. A fun fact is that Welsh is one of the oldest European languages. If you ever want to visit Wales and see how beautiful it can be, go to West Wales in Pembrokeshire. The beaches and countryside there is stunning.

Wales is half the size of Maryland, and it has about 500 castles. More per area than anywhere on earth. That is my top Wales fact.

One thing about the language, you said 99% of people speak English that is true but for a lot of people like 28% it's actually there second language with Welsh being there first

The best thing about being Welsh is, unlike us, the other UK nations all have a stereotype which Americans think of them as. We just go under the radar (despite many huge Welsh celebrities being present in US culture).
