I really wanted Ugarte before he went to PSG so was very excited when we were linked with him again, especially when it's not just false news. I saw him like Mascherano for Liverpool, a destroyer in midfield. The strengths you mentioned of 4.6 successful tackles per game (68% success rate) Vs him being the 6th most dribbled past player doesn't match up, they contradict each other which I find interesting. Overall I can't lie that I'll be very much looking forward to seeing him win balls, keep the ball and pass the ball to someone who is more creative/attacking. I don't think you can ask for much more. I agree that price is important. I do still think that Onana from Everton with his physical presence and height in midfield is more suitable for United but Ugarte will be more suitable than Neves, we need a proper defensive midfielder and Ugarte is that.

Casemiro worked in his first season and was our POTY. So if we can buy a disrupter who is much younger that can fill that Casermiro role, then the balance is restored. Eriksen and Casemiro pivot replaced by Mainoo and Ugarte would be a massive upgrade.

I believe Ugarte can compliment Mainoo and Bruno provided he can adapt. We don't expect a finished product at that age. So given our budget, if he's willing to and we hit a good deal with PSG, I'd say let's get him and Amrabat in.

we need a player who gives mainoo the confidence to go forward and do risky passes and dribbles, prime casemiro is an obvious answer to that, it was his guarantee to be solid defensively which made modric and kroos go forward and play their natural game
in ugarte we see a similar player who can be developed into a world class level

other than ugarte i see nicolo rovella of lazio who has a similar destroyer like profile who can be a good compliment of mainoo

Based on your Explaination because at midfield we have creative like Mainoo Bruno Mount so Ugarte can be more confident for United at midfield.
Maybe he Traditional Defensive Midfielder but its important to balance that space midfield at United.

"Limitations on the ball" means you have never seen a game of Ugarte at Sporting. Watch Benfica vs Sporting last year. He dribles past 4/5 players easily, and consistently.

To be fair with players like Martinez Shaw and Dalot at the back Mainoo in midfield there is enough progressive passers in deeper possession his main responsibility would be to win the ball back and give it to the more expansive players which he can do very well he’s an upgrade on what we’ve got and he’s young so if it’s the right price then it’s not a bad idea at all
