Why Manchester United chose to sign Manuel Ugarte | Transfer Talk

Manchester United have a full agreement with PSG for the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

United will pay an initial of £42.2m but the deal could be worth as much as £50.7m (€60m) including performance-related add-ons.

Ugarte, who was the club's primary midfield target throughout the window, is expected in the UK on Tuesday to have a medical and sign off on personal terms.

United used to get their pants pulled down with every deal. We got Nous and De Ligt for like 50mil and this guy for like 43. Anything less than the usual 70mil is a steal. Casemiro is the only real 6 we have and we have just backed him up with the Uruguayan Kante. Now we can really rotate midfield OR even play with both Ugarte and Casemiro if need be and that's tactical flexibility especially with injuries. Ineos is has performed a miracle with all these outgoings and incomings.

each of united's transfers were bought for initially cheaper than the selling club wanted topped up with add-ons
couple years ago, player values jumped when United started sniffing about
first season under this new management structure has been exceptional. things aren't going to change overnight, but they are definitely heading in the right direction
just in time for City's court year

The issue with United is just how many issues we’ve got, we need this type of midfielder, a true defensive mid, but we actually need a proper deep lying playmaker too. A Rodri type (not that there are many of those obviously 😂) but we are still going into another season having not actually replaced MIchael Carrick 🤦‍♂️
