When Elon Must first started talking about his vision of Hyperloop Alpha, back in 2013, he argued that Hyperloop would be a safer and faster way to travel, and that it would also be more affordable, weather-proof, and self-powering. The basic idea is that there would be passenger pods that travel through a tube, either below or over ground, and that the air in the tubes would be removed by pumps, because overcoming air resistance is one of the biggest issues of energy in high speed travel. While Elon Musk became more involved in his other projects, his Hyperloop vision started becoming a reality for many companies that are eager to invest in this new way of traveling, and so started an atypical race as to who will complete it first, and of course, where it would be completed first.
