Comment with your favorite emoji if you’re a BIG FEELER.

Possessing the trait of emotional sensitivity means that you experience feelings:
✅more often
✅more intensely
✅for longer periods of time

People who identify with any of the following labels may possess the trait of emotional sensitivity:
Feeler
Empath
Highly sensitive person
Emotional sponge
People pleaser
Borderline personality disorder
Superfeeler
Badass😉

If this is you… you are not alone!

There is NOTHING WRONG with having the trait of emotional sensitivity! No matter what the haters say.

Issues arise when feelers face invalidation from others, which can be incredibly hurtful. Invalidation is when someone dismisses or belittles your feelings, experiences, or concerns. It can leave you feeling unheard, misunderstood, and even guilty for having certain emotions.

If you are emotionally sensitive and have been invalidated, you may:

✅Develop low self-esteem, perpetuated by a belief that you are not “normal”

✅Believe that you are in some way defective for being sensitive

✅Experience anxiety about having feelings

✅Become self-critical and self-invalidating

✅Engage in unhelpful behaviors to try and stop yourself from feeling our feelings

Thankfully, there are many skills that we can use to develop a better relationship with ourselves, our emotions, and other people.
