As basic as it gets. It's a good thing though, leave nothing to chance, assume Nothing about the level of the novice player coming to the double bass. Thank you for this post.

This was nice, but I'm not a musician, I'm a jazz fan and I've heard the term "walking bass" for decades & I just wanted to know exactly what's meant by that term and how to identify it & differentiate it from other styles of bass playing; where did it come from, did it evolve from another style or did it suddenly appear.  Thoughts?

Is it weird that I call the double bass the natural bass. (I say that because it’s naturaly low and doesn’t use an amp.) I don’t know my orchestra teacher and my band teacher likes it.

Can't this just be translated to a normal bass
