In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we delve the into the aedric daedra lord, Meridia.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.

The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

I never understood why Meridia allowed me to touch her beacon when I'm a vampire. Doesn't she hate the undead?

Haha when you’ve played Skyrim SO much that when you find the beacon in a random chest, you actually contemplate wether it’s worth it or not to hear the dreaded words...

*”A NEW HAND TOUCHEZZ THE BEACON.”*

Vigilants of Stendarr: "Y'know we thought about changing our name to the 'Vigilants of Meridia' but you ever hear that she's a DAEDRA!? YUCKY!"

for a Prince she is amazingly human (her emotions at least). It seems like she is held up on high only to resent the role she plays. When she chooses she "acts out" in a way choosing to seek out power for herself. The contradictory nature of her actions seem very much like the struggle of good and evil inside us all.

I don't necessarily think Meridia a hypocrite, but I do agree with her vanity. I would imagine her siding with the Ayleids because they worshipped her, and recognised her divine power, as opposed to the Nedes, who where rather quick to invent their own religion after overthrowing the Ayleids. That being said, we know far too little about her. She was cast from Aetherius for "consorting with Daedra, " whatever that means, and she hates the undead.

Xarxes also consorted with Mora, but gets to be deified regardless, but an actual Et'Ada gets kicked out? Then again, Xarxes was an early mortal, so maybe he just didn't know better, whereas a Magna Ge should.

"She is the enemy of our enemy, but not our friend"

Edit: To anyone who's done the new dungeons they added in ESO, you'll know where that snippet comes from. :P

My theory : Being originally a Magna-Ge, she fled from the newly created Mundus when she understood she would lose her immortality and her power, so she might share the Aldmers' hate for Lorkhan, so that might explain why she chose to support the Ayleids against the Nedic slaves, given that Men were originally the followers of Lorkhan.

Weird story - I always give Dawnbreaker to Serana and let her strike the final blow on Harkon. Seems fitting for a renegade Daughter of Coldharbor to strike down her father with the sword of Meridia.

Of course Meridia loving life, and her support of the Ayleids can be reconciled:
The Ayleids were strong, and life is survival of the fittest. And until their defeat, the Ayleids were the fittest.
Life is not only sweet, but also bitter.

Meridia, as an Aedra/Daedra, would have to embody that duality.
