I can't think of a YouTuber who knows the iPad and iPadOS as well as Christopher Lawley. iPadOS software engineers would be very wise to listen to his ideas and suggestions, because there aren't too many people on this planet who have mastered the iPad like Chris has!

I think they’re moving in the right direction with these changes..however, one thing I wish they would add is to be able to drag a window to the edge and have it snap to half the screen, or in the corners rather than having to manually adjust the window size every time

2nd. I also don't love Stage Manager on the iPad because every time I open a new app it opens a new stage. I wish it would just load the app into the current stage. It feels just a few steps short of greatness. That said it's AMAZING for using external monitors with my iPad Pro M1. Edit: just got to the part where you talked about the wish for the setting to allow you to do this -- YES!

Ty! So many reddit pages and YouTube vids say the iPad is not a "main computer", but here you are showing its full potential. As a home inspector, this fits my needs, since the ipad is portable, light weight, and has the ability to adapt to w/e I need w/o having to own a MacBook, or PC. Keep up the great work; you earned a sub!

As someone who owns a Windows desktop PC and needs a portable machine, I really want the iPad to be my main machine. This video was exactly what I needed to help convince me that the iPad can do everything for me. My Windows desktop PC is mainly used forbig 4K gaming that only and Nvidia GPU can provide. But, my 11 inch iPad Air will be my main computer for everything else and even some lighter games. Thanks so much for this.

Great info Chris! I use my iPad Pro in a sales rep position. Initially I resisted stage manager, that is until I worked a convention. High paced environment where I need to switch between apps quickly and multitask. Switched on stage manager and it greatly improved my efficiency. Haven't turned it off since and that was back in February.

The number of keyboard shortcuts I'm learning from this is astounding. I didn't realize Globe could be used in keyboard shortcuts

Stage Manager is really great and useful. It's not like full desktop but closer to it.

Thanks for video.

Soooo much details! Thank you! One thing to know about iPad vs Mac is that the iPad has more hardware limitations like thermals. iPad also has to include touch functionality where Mac does not. This makes it more challenging to have iPad software mirror Mac software. So, I why some things are different between the two. I am also thrilled when iPad offers the same (or better) functionality as a Mac. At work I use iPad 85% of the time for ease of use, battery life, lighter, and smaller. I am excited to see a 14” iPad hopefully with better thermals. Keep up the absolutely great and useful videos!

What an awesome video. Thank you! I was really struggling with figuring this out. I’ll probably watch this many times until I master Stage Manager.

It would make a lot of sense if they gave stage manager to the iPad 10 with the 4 Windows-Limit and no option to extend the desktop to a second screen; then kept the Air how it is with 2 Screens a 4 Windows and then gave the iPad Pro support for infinite Windows. That would make both the iPad 10 and the Pro way better while keeping the typical upselling limitations so users have reasons to upgrade to more expensive models.

I would love to see more of this in iOS 17. Specifically, I would like to see how we can use Microsoft Word and Excel on the iPad, as well as Photoshop and video editing. 😍

❤ thank you! That hiding of the recent stages is gold.

I have stage manager enabled on my iPad Pro 10.5 via jailbreak and I can tell you it runs just fine. There’s absolutely no valid reason older iPads can’t run stage manager (other than Apple’s greed).

Thanks for this video on Stage Manager. I have loved Stage Manager since it was released in iPadOS 16. You have showed me how to turn on the high resolution display mode for more display space - thanks. My 13 inch iPad Pro M1 is my primary computing platform these days now with stage manager.

Great video! While I'm still very much a Split View + Slide Over iPad user for both technical and personal preference reasons, I do feel that you bring up some valid criticisms for the current implementation of Stage Manager.
