Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

After watching a 10 minute test, you should definitely give these a chance. You're not a tour player, its not like posting a few bad scores while you get used to them will cost you your Nike sponsorship or something. Viewers will love watching you try to change and if it doesn't improve your game after say 3 months just go back to your old grips. Its a win win. I'd personally love to see you embrace such a dramatic change and watch your struggle with them. Watching you struggle with the ups and downs of golf is why we LOVE your channel ❤

Rick, you need these on your driver, tame that nasty hook.

If this gets 1 like I’ll play golf today

Edit: Got the boys together and had a blast out there! Might go crazy and play after work today too.

As an older golfer with arthritis in the hands, the jumbo's have absolutely made my game easier. Not your issue of course. Meanwhile as a slicer, I actually have found that the jumbo's helped me go straighter as I am more relaxed and don't tense up now, and with tensing my right hand would get too involved and would open my face at impact.

Rick, remember that Nick Faldo told you that you needed to strengthen your grip. That tip and these grips would vastly improve your scoring.

Pretty sure the green version decreases swing weight (it's a heavier grip). The Ultralight series keep swing weight generally the same.

Other considerations are the other sizes. Most go XL to match Bryson, even XL is big for the jumbomax line.

Get them in the "Medium" size and the Ultralight version.
ABSOLUTE MONEY.
The Ultralight also fixes the swing weight issue 😊
Definitely takes the left side of the course out of play if your like Rick and your miss is left.

Rick, great review. Something to note, they have the Ultralite version which gives you the extra grip size without changing your swing weight. I’ve had them on my entire set for a year and I’ll never go back to a normal grip.

There are several sizes available in the Jumbomax grips. I use a small that is bigger than a standard Jumbo golf pride grip. You should try that.

Rick I am a slicer, especially with my driver. I changed to golfpride mcc+ jumbo grips on my driver and woods a couple of years ago. I don't have that slice like I used to. So I changed to jumbo grips on all my clubs this year (golfpride mcc+) and am hitting every club straighter than before. I also feel like I have more control when chipping and wedge shots. Love the jumbo grips. Keep puting out the great content. One piece of advice, stay out of your head when you are trying to break 75. You are your own worst enemy when it comes to overthinking a shot. Do the explanation then clear your mind and swing without thought. Have a great day.

Hey Rick, you should revisit this, and some of the comments you made about the grips. They have a lot of product lines with all different sizes, weights, and tapers. I would highly recommend it to every golfer. I have never had a right to left ball flight. Most of my life I have had a slice be my miss. I have been using Ultralite XS for months and the improvement in consistency is amazing. I switched to them because of wrist pain, which immediately went away after the switch.

I hope Jumbomax reaches out to you to make a video. They can run you thru the fitting system and the benefits and misconceptions about the grips.

Go for it Rick! You will drop 5 strokes easy by getting rid of that snap hook. Try them when chipping.

Rick, these grips fix the slice because it encourages you to pull the club with the left arm since it has the most contact feel on the club when gripping it. Because I have very limited shoulder mobility due to injury in baseball, I have to rely on lots of ground and hip rotation to power my swing. The difference between a hook and a slice is the hand the has most pressure or force through contact. Hooks/draws come from more left hand force and hand play through the swing while fades/slices are from more right hand force and hand play. If you don't believe me, try it next time on the range. Hit 5 balls by using your left arm/hand during the downswing and then hit 5 balls using your right arm/hand during the downswing. I too have magical hands and trust me sometimes they get a bit too magical and I start hitting shots I do not like on the course.

I put jumbo grips on my drivers and fairway woods (not that jumbo max) and I had a nasty slice... my slice almost completely disappeared, because same as you, it made it feel like it "quieted my hands" and forced me to use my body more and gave me more confidence over the ball.

I think you should’ve tried the different sizes going straight to the XL doesn’t actually give you a true picture of how useful they can be

I switched to the Jumbomax grips about 6 months ago with great success. Like you, I was very handsy and tended to snap it left. I was also suffering from pain in my hands and wrists. The big grips resolved both of those issues. There was a little bit of a learning curve. The biggest thing I learned was that I needed to reduce my grip pressure significantly. In fact, I sometimes play without a glove and it seems easier.

Larger grips like these improved my club head speed right out of the gate. I was instantly able to transfer so much more energy into the club head because the grip filled my hands and my grip remained so much more gentle. I love these grips. My glove size is XL or XXL.

I’ve been using these with my woods for the last two years. At first they felt very uncomfortable but after a couple of rounds I will never use regular grips. I feel I have better control and distance. Because of arthritis in my right hand I’ve started to use them in a couple of irons, not as much pain and better control!

Rick I suggest trying the ultralight version in medium or small. I use the jumbomax grip, but I use the ultralight version in a combo of the Medium and Small sizes. They are lighter than a golfpride at 48grams and still much bigger, but not as big as the XL and as heavy as the Green version 96grams..ish

I've played around with these off and on for the past 3 years. As a former slicer, I can tell you that it can be beneficial. I found that it forced me to keep the face more square for longer. I also found that for some reason, personally, they made me feel like it was impossible to hit a fat shot. The only thing I couldn't play them on was wedges. For the more creative shots, I felt that it took my hands out of it too much. Great video, as always, Rick.
