Windows 11 introduces a new, centered Taskbar, complete with icons that are grouped in the center of your screen, rather than the familiar left-hand corner. If this feels weird, Mark is here to show you how to move your Start menu and Taskbar icons back to where they were in the days of Windows 10.

It was a relief to fix this daft abstraction, and to see the start button in the correct and logical place where it can be operated fastest, and without obscuring the middle of the screen.

Ever since I bought my first PC I've been moving the taskbar to the top of the screen. I was working on a Mac at work and PC at home and since Apple didn't allow any modifications to the user interface (Apple always think they know what's best for you) it just felt more natural to have them both at the top so I always changed it in Windows.
I bet I'm not the only one so it would be silly if they now stop giving users that option.

I am so grateful for you, I hate updating in the fear of them changing too much... center taskbar was too much of a change for me

You saved me. I just got a new laptop and wanted to install windows 10 just only for the reason that the start is not in the left corner.

Kudos on a well made video. I was wondering if this was possible. Just installed win11 last night and the centered icons were jarring. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

Still boggles my mind they went Elon Musk and implemented something different for the sake of being diferrent. Why break something that isn’t broken? It was that way for decades and now they have to “update” them to give old functionality that people are used to.

now is there any way to keep the start on the left but every other taskbar pinned app center? Because that's what I used in windows 10

I'm hoping Open Shell gets an update for Windows 11. Windows 7 still has the best start menu by far, and while 11 is an improvement on 10, the layout still isn't great.

Thank you so much for clearing this up! I couldn't stand it being in the middle of the bar. It's such a simple fix my monkey brain couldn't figure it out. So thank you for doing it for me!
