Is the original Retina MacBook Pro still good in 2019?

I have purchased rMBP back in 2012, right after announcement. Just because of screen. Picked i7 2.3/16GB/650M/256GB and never regretted a bit. That laptop served me over 3 years in Afghanistan, processed 50-60 thousand wedding photos and it's my main computer even today. I am typing this comment using rMBP 15 Mid-12. That is the best testimony for product quality and return of initial investment :) Now is time to buy 2018 model, BUT I still can sell this one for maybe 600-700 euros. Crazy, right? :)

I have the mid 2014 15 inch retina running Mojave, 6 years on it is amazing, this week i just had to give the old girl a make over, opened it up and cleaned it up, upgraded the 256gb SSD to a 512gb NVME SSD, changed the battery and changed the heat paste and got an EGPU, Razor Core X + Vega 64, it is flying right now. I use it as my main computer and i shoot and edit music videos and do music production, it was well worth the money spent to keep this laptop going at least another 2 years if not more, amazing product.

I haven't use my macbook pro retina mid 2012 for 3 years and My 2015 MacBook air died. Now I am using the mid-2012 core i7 2.3ghz, 8gb ram, 650M graphics card and 256gb storage. It runs macos mojave so well and my mac doesn't suffer in stain gate or graphics card defect

Bought this exact laptop (mid 2012 2.3GHz i7 16GB ) about two years ago for $700 and I have loved every minute of using it. The screen is absolutely beautiful compared to most other modern laptops, and the design is still one of my favorites. Still runs like a beast and is in great condition! Definitely recommend a 2012-2013 model to anyone if you can find a good price

I'm still using this laptop in 2023. The only issue I've had thus far is the battery (as expected) and the trackpad doesn't click anymore (not an issue as tapping works to click). I would still recommend this model to regular laptop users.

This was my first MacBook! I used it for 5 years using it mostly for heavy 4K video editing in Final Cut Pro. Now my girlfriend uses it for college, photo editing and light video editing, as I have upgraded to the 2016 MacBook Pro! Both being the best investments I've ever made!

I literally got a refurbished late 2013 MacBook Pro 13” on amazon, delivered yesterday. Paid £276, only screen delaminating is around the camera, it has 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD, makes my windows laptop feel almost a decade older

I got the 2012 MacBook Pro 15 inch at a thrift store for 30 bucks. It is such a good Mac 💻
