ONE MAJOR REASON i love Shieldguard: Minotaur. He solos Mino 15, allowing him to farm 4 hero's masteries solo. Was worth every penny. I do not regret him at ALL. LOVE your content, Soda Dragon!

so much depends on who you have at what time. i typically do very poorly in summon type games getting good heroes. it took me a while to get my rooster going. i 6* SG and didn't regret it. he helped me greatly early on. what i do regret is maxing out a second one

I have made that mistake too. People talk about "building a campaign farmer, " but they leave out the fact that you need great gear first. I like Shieldguard, and Saurus, but maxing them out, alone, doesn't really help much.

I have realized that taking along some decent common and uncommon champions as "food, " with your early game farmer works much better, in my personal experience.

If you use solid champions, with your starter, you can farm using your entire party. I really like Knecht, Sister Militant, Skinner, Lurker, and Outlaw Monk, Zepher Sniper, and Commander as food champions early on. They make a decent starter party early on, are farmable, and you can play through while you are farming.

I guess the term "early game, " is a term used loosely in the Raid community sometimes, because nobody really talks about how to get your campaign farmers powerful enough to solo harder areas, but it makes sense if they are using endgame gear

I agree with you so much, the only reason why you would max this dude instead of an epic is because you were so unlucky that all epic you pulled were trash.
I started a F2P account and at the start I was farming Mino with my 60 starter champion and my second 60; Rearguard seargeant. Now rearguard solos mino on her own in the mean time I pulled several much more worthy champions than Shieldguard.
If you're 200 days in and haven't had a good epic or legendary yet maybe then he would be an option but who would be in that position.
Not to mention ppl hyping Shieldguard have a stacked Great hall and are Gold 4-5 for +20% in all stats on top of much better gear.

Really liked shieldguard but only slowly built mine. Shortly after getting Scyl of the Drakes, Him, High Katun, Warmaiden and Elder Skarg, got me my first FW Stage 21 done. Only ever got him to LVL60 just because of ChampTraining and putting him into a sparring pit slot.
He is solid and okay, great for an uncommon but only that.
Still use him in FW and as the wave clear for solo Dreadhorn farming with Burangiri. He survives surprisingly well with okay lifesteal gear

I have to say i fell for that trap when i first started. watching videos of people killing it with uncommon champs like shield guard and armiger. but what i didnt understand was that they had maxed out great halls and good gear...stuff i lacked. i would have been better suited to just save my resources for an epic or at least a rare instead of 6 staring those vault guardians.

You tell it like it is.
Absolutely love your content.
This should be a great series. Look forward to watching more! Thanks for all the insights you share.

I agree with you 100% because most Youtuber just play with normal Champs with End game gears to make contents to their channels and when Starter see this they thought he is God. Youtubers want money for following and Likes and views.
they always want to be active daily to keep collecting money but some others like you did a nice contents and useful without showing off ... thank you for everything you introduced. Like from me

Great video Soda Dragon! I discovered the same thing after I started watching other content creators when I first started playing RAID. I could not understand the hype even though I didn’t realize that all of the amazing Shield Guard videos were running him in end game gear with masteries. So it was my mistake as well.

THANK YOU.

I have been toying with 6 staring him but have held off. I'll use him a s a chicken.

I learned the gear thing with fellhound. You have to have good end game gear to use him as you farmer and I just don't have it yet. I got so frustrated that no one mentioned that hey he's fast and he's great, BUT you have to have decent 6 star gear on him because he will not work with 5 star gear. (At least the stuff I've tried on him)

I never leveled him past 40, but I was planning to get to it eventually. For now I have been booking him through duplicates.
Looks like I won't need to level him after all. Thanks for the heads up.

Glad I found your channel. My Shieldguard was being leveled and just got all of his skills.. Maybe I'll use him to help me in early faction wars then use him as food. *subbed*

I'm early game, With my crappy LS gear he is farming Minitor solo for me and he was my campaign farmer for a while. Can't complain. That dude is solid

i did something similar with Outlaw Monk, he's a good early poisoner for clan boss, but if you have kael and someone else with toxic set he becomes redundant

The starter champs can also be used in Doom Tower Secret rooms later on if nothing else. Whereas uncommon champions can't be.

I use a farmer for mino and send in 3-4 food champs without gear simultaneously. You can save a lot of resources by leveling them in mino while also farming their scrolls and once you get things going you end up with 2-3 champs maxed on scrolls only leveling experience and 1 champ getting experience and all of the scrolls.

agreed 💯% I was never convinced that these uncommon can be great specially for new accounts.

Here's the thing: you get 6 pieces of Lifesteal gear in your first 7 days. I split mine between my starter and Shieldguard, and was able to rely on him instead of my starter to farm Brutal 12-3 after only needing to farm one more piece of Lifesteal gear. It eased the burden off of my starter. He remains the last guy standing against the Clan Boss in the account that I did this in. Will I replace him eventually? Yes. But I don't regret using him for progression thus far until I pull the epic or lego that replaces him. As for Soloing Mino, you do it to level up the champ that you're farming scrolls for faster.

My shieldguard still carries me in a lot of places. He is my main mino farmer, was main 12-3 farmer and is still in several teams going through DT. He may be suboptimal given I got a lot of leggos, but he is usable and plugs the hole in any comp easily.
