BEST NEW TYRES FOR THE CAYMAN S 987 ( Is it really that expensive?) Visiting Arch Garage UK

Today we are visiting Arch Garage in Filey, Uk to have new Tyres fitted to the Porsche Cayman 987 S. After much deliberation on tyre choice I finally decided on what to go for. Only N rated tyres can go on a Porsche Cayman 987 so the only brands to pick from are Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Goodyear. Price didn't really come into it as they are all expensive and as its the only part of the car keeping you on the road, I simply wanted the best! I have so many modifications I would like to do to my Cayman 987.1 S so if that is something you want to see more of then please make sure you like and subcribe to my channel.

As I have said in the video I highly reccomend Arch Garage in Filey, North Yorkshire for all your german car needs. Make sure you give the page a follow on all the usual social media platforms.

These are just a few of the preparations I am making to my Porsche Cayman S 987 ahead of my road trip I have planned over the coming weeks.

Thank you to everyone that has been supporting the channel over the last few months. I set out to share my ownership experience of owning a Porsche Cayman 987.1 and to show how expensive or in expensive it is. The channel has grown so much more than I could have imagined and led me to introduce some other cars I own. For videos on my other car I own see the links below.

Really like the informative content you put out on your channel. It gives a true real-world perspective on the reality of living with a Cayman. Admittedly, I wasn't really attracted to the 987 Caymans (aesthetically) but as soon as I saw a POV drive video on YouTube that MarkCup70 uploaded, I'm now searching for them on autotrader and pistonheads! The high speed stability, refinement, traction when you lean it on corners, and that flat six sound you hear just behind your ear is what makes these very appealing. Keep up the great work, subscribed to your channel!

Great video Joe. Nice to see you complimenting a garage you trust. I'm still looking for my 987 (maybe 981). Can't wait for your Scotland trip videos. Have a great time.

Good video Joe. You are wise to change your tyres when you did. I have seen pals driving around on 10 year old tyres, refusing to change them because they still had some tread left.
If you ever find yourself in the Guisborough area pop in for a cup of tea and a chat.

I’ve got 2012 tyres that are also cracked!!! I’m trying my hardest to get the tread down to have them change. New tears can make the car handle completely different to when they are worn

Where to bring your car is a huge factor. We all agree the main dealer experience is way too expensive. Here in Dublin I've come across so many garages who claim to be specialists or have maybe one guy who "worked on Porsches". I also think you done quite reasonable on the tyres. I'm changing my 18's to 19's over the next few weeks and expect to pay roughly a thousand euro which is about the same in sterling. Once again I really enjoyed your video Joe, thanks so much mate.

I will be needing to replace my rear tyres soon but will now check the date on all 4 wheels. I recently had the front brakes and disc replaced and not too costly. As you say I went to a Porsche specialist

Did you have a full alignment tracking done after wheels were changed?

Just some criticism, hopefully you will take it the right way. Look back at the vid I think you find your self repeating same or similar comments. Don’t mind you plugging the garage but I thought it was a bit over the top

Love your channel as you a honest and decent guy giving real view opinion of the cars you own and drive

Hyundai fitted the Michelin PS4 to my i30 Nline as standard and they are fantastic in the wet or dry, so I reckon you will be more than happy with the 4S version.

I had PS4S on my TCR Gti, they were brilliant compared to Pirelli. Only downside was they kept removing all the stones from the drive as they’re more ‘sticky’

Joe, there is often talk about road noise on these cars. Have you noticed any improvement with your new tyres or indeed any additional road noise. Looking forward to the exhaust change, as that’s next on my agenda 👍👍

The only N rated tryes the local OPC could source for the 18" wheels on my 987S were from Bridgestone.. No other manufacturer could supply.. July 2021..

Yep those are the best tyres, good choice. Best to stick with the older style Bosch wipers though, as the passenger side is curved. Euro car parts sell them.

Looking to buy a 987.1 Cayman S. Found one with 70k on the clock. Tiptronic like yours. I’m just really concerned about the chance of bore scoring in the future. Are my concerns exaggerated? Thanks

Hi, are your Sport 4S tyres N rated? I thought they were only N's for the 981 20" wheels and 718 models

Like yourself I watch loads of car u tube and have my favourites like JoeAchilles who has made several road trip videos with Petrolhead Tours with whom I have done a couple of Scotland road trips. I can heartily recommend them.
