Different tires naturally come with differing starting tread depths, but the differences can be vast across tire types. This short shows the starting tread depth of 4 of the latest Nokian Tyres products, the Nokian One all season, Nokian OutPost nAT all terrain tire, the Nokian WRG4 SUV (which has now been replaced by the WRG5) all weather tire and the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV winter tire.

All the tires are in the same size.

We're these all the same makes? I work in the tyre industry the reason for tread depth changes between different applications is to do with heat and also it's grip on diffrent terrain. Also in the UK you have a range to what you can legally sell a tyre at look at the budget brand firemax comes with 5.6 mil brand new. You also have Michelin pilot sport cups which come with 4 mil but this is for heat exchange. Like the tool though very visual for customers who don't know about their tyres.

This is the Autel Tbe 100 or the Tbe 200. They are $400 and $500 respectively

Dear Jonathan! I really like your videos. But the imperial system is for the rest of the world a real pain.

This is only a small sampling and not representing all tires. I've measured All Seasons with 11/32", same for Winter ones. Depends a lot on the brand.

What’s the theoretical difference between all season and all weather? I think in Germany both terms (albeit their German translation) are just synonymously.

At first glance I thought it was measuring tyre pressure by stuck a needle in the tyre 😂
