Any live event with multiple microphones brings the major challenge of producing a clear and noise-free sound. Whether it’s a seminar, press conference, a small theatre production, church events or a panel discussion like in this setup.

The X Air digital mixers from Behringer have an auto-mixing feature which eliminates these problems and helps with a more consistent and professional sound. In this video we’ll show you how the auto-mixing works – without the need of a mixing engineer.

More infos on the Behringer X-Air XR18

Auto-mixing is also available in the XR12, XR16, X16 and the X32 line.

I have use this feature before. I work for Local PBS station that does talking heads panel forum with multiple panelist and a moderator. I set moderator mike slightly above the other panelists so the moderator can keep the peace and maintain the flow of the event. Seminars on cancer, political debate, forums, election coverage.. and the whole nine yards.

Helps the sound guy keep tabs on who is talking.. Once the initial levels are set all he has to do is just tweak as the event goes on.

love this feature..

Superb function! 😍 I'm touring place to place, and might be returned to those places after a year. What I wish to see is more than 64 snapshot, this will help me to reduce the setup & sound check time! 💪

A very interesting feature. Bonus points for supporting Linux.

This is a good feature! HATE the virtual mixer tho, I prefer the real thing!

This feature works best if your running multiple lavalier microphones. I believe with behringer xair, much like a Midas m32 auto mix is limited to the first 8 mic channels.

So basically an auto gate function with variable attenuation?

Could this work with vocals in a band? Could you put the lead vox in X and the BGVs in Y?

Also, could you use this to mix monitors? Specifically If you're running monitors from FOH and you have separate channels for your vocals in the monitors, could you use this instead of gates?

I wish we could have Automatic Microphone Feedback Reduction on the X-Air

If I have a lead singer in my band and we have 4 backing vocals should the lead be in Y automix and backing vocals in X or how would you set it up?

Let's say I have one speaker and a source of music. Is it possible to configure the feature to automatically reduce the level of music each time the speaker speaks and to bring the music back when he's silient?

Is this feature currently available on the X32 mixers? If not, will it be available for them in the future via a firmware update?

Couldn't you just put gates on each channel? Or at least and expander

Please updated your X Air App please! It's really garbage and complicated to use! It's ashame you have practically the best hardware in the business but the shitiest software to support it.
