IBtheTOP and Salomon Kim have prepared a lecture on "Coming up with Research Questions".

"First, pick any topic or area of interest that you find interesting within the IB curriculum. Just be aware that you will be expected to understand it well, so if you pick something you have not covered in class yet then you will have to learn it on your own. When you pick your topic you should consider three things:

- How can I prove this experimentally?
- How are these concepts applied in real life?
- Is there a useful conclusion I can reach with this experiment?

If you are having trouble finding something, one way to start could be to see what equipment is available to in your science lab. Knowing that you already have could be a good starting point when deciding what you want to do. Each piece of equipment can be used in many different experiments, so once you pick one you can research how it is commonly used..."
