Watch my next video on Why Bees Are So Fuzzy on Nebula Now!

Let's talk about Bailey's beads and coronal mass ejections - from the backdrop of Stonehenge, Texas!

Part of the fun of a total solar eclipse is getting to see features of the sun's surface that usually hide in plain sight like Bailey's beads and coronal mass ejections. But how many people can say they've seen these things - from Stonehenge?? I brought all my photography equipment to Kerrville, Texas, to record the eclipse for you in today's episode.

i ended up driving from my city about 3 hrs west to just outside of cleveland as my view in buffalo would have been pretty much overcast the whole time, just like it was in texas. well worth the drive, and also.. NO TRAFFIC! everyone said the traffic everywhere in the totality slice would be terrible, but... the park we ended up at had like maybe 50 people watching. it was great!

Earlier this week, for some reason, I remembered this channel and checked to see if you had uploaded anything new this year. This blew my mind 🙃.
Me ha gustado mucho el vídeo y me alegro de que hayas vuelto!

Had a similar experience 1999 at the total eclipse in Germany. The weather forecast had us worrying. And there were clouds coming and going while the moon's disk moved in front of the sun. But then a minute before the total eclipse the curtain of clouds opened for the spectacle and a minute after the total eclipse the curtain closed again. We were really lucky. All the people I knew that went to see it somewhere else sadly missed it because of clouds. It really was a magical, almost frightening experience! I can't imagine how this must have felt to people a few 1000 years ago, when solar eclipses could neither be forecast nor understood.
Glad you saw some of it and crossing my fingers you will see it in Spain.

Welcome back! I missed you!

Lovely to see you again! I live in Europe and we had a total eclipse on august 11, 1999. I decided to go to the path of totality which meant in my case driving from The Netherlands, through Belgium to Luxembourg all the way to the border with France (which is still only a fraction of your trip 😀).
We also had the bad luck of it turning completely overcast minutes before the event. We thought it was a waste of time until the actual eclipse happened. The sudden dusk like someone hit the dimmer button of the sun was absolutely magical! Now I always tell everyone: if you have the chance of experiencing a total eclipse, go for it!

I've got that same lens. It's a powerhouse, especially for the price. I also got some really good photos of the eclipse from central Arkansas with my setup, we had some high and thin clouds but it gave a nice hazy glow but still kept a lot of detail.
