How to make brigadeiros: Recipe for Brazilian dessert
Показать описание
Brigadeiros are a traditional Brazilian dessert. I've gotta say, Brazilians are really onto something with this one!
My buddy Jeremy's mom--she's Brazilian, her name is Rilma (pronounced "Hilma")--made it for him all the time while he grew up, so he showed me how she makes these delicious chocolate confections.
They are insanely simple and dangerously delicious.
Quick word of caution: eat these in moderation, because they are in no way healthy for you. But they're SO good, so definitely a special occasion treat.
All you need is half a stick of butter, a 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk, and 4-5 tablespoons of cocoa powder (Jeremy was raised using Nestle brand, so he votes that).
Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly for about 10 minutes. Let the mixture cool on a buttered plate for one to two hours, then butter your hands and roll spoonfuls of the mixture in your hands to create a ball. Drop the ball in a bowl of sugar and roll it around to coat.
Enjoy!
Note: Jeremy told me about variations, too: there are coconut and strawberry brigadeiros and sometimes people roll them in chocolate sprinkles instead of sugar.
