2024 Hyundai i20 Review

Welcome everyone to the 2024 Hyundai i20.

Last year Ford shock us by killing off the Fiesta. Such an iconic but also, class leader.
So with this shock departure of the king of the small family hatchback, everyone else has a chance to fight it out for the crown.

Hyundai are competing with the i20. A car that has earned its own iconic status with the amazing i20N.

This latest generation has had a mid-life refresh. Tweaks to the exterior, upgrades to the technology and surprisingly, the axing of the mild hybrid.

So as a pure ICE car, can the i20 compete against a strong class which contains hybrids and even BEV’s.

Good review and lol at the wheels comment 😂 good to see them drop the mild hybrid just more things to go wrong nice to have the option of just a ICE engine.

great review thanks, I just bought a 21 reg i20 premium here in the uk, and some of the features I thought it would have it doesn't e.g. wireless charger, Smart cruise control (or whatever it's called to keep distance between cars), forward parking sensors, hill hold assist. However I'm still very happy with it and can't wait to pick it up this week from the dealer. Been a Peugeot fan for a long time. Been using a 207 for the past 15 years.

Great review. My partner is getting one and she loves the pentagram wheels. Oh and the soundbite is I think a snippet from the Orbital track Satan 😉 epic tune.

Great review of a much improved little car. As you say, there's a gap in the supermini market, and this is a good candidate - and likely to be more reliable than a Polo.

One veeery important question please. It has a timming belt or chain? If is a belt is on oil or conventional?

Think there's a good reason why Hyundai and perhaps Kia ditch the Mild Hybrid system is because they've had so many failures within the warranty period. Think engine's have been wrecked due to the Mild Hybrid Motor failures.

Great reviews but the mild hybrids give little advantage over the petrol, I have a full hybrid Hyundai Ioniq 2022 and really this engine from it should be in the Bayon

Great review. BUT can you turn off the 'bongs'?

Had the I20 big bother a Bayon DCT Premium 120bhp for 14 months now & love it. HOWEVER, what they won't tell you is that you must do average mileage for the stop/go & sailing to work the mild hybrid systems. Option is to keep the 12v battery trickle charged when not in use. This practice is done in the showrooms as I found out too late. Hyundai must know this to have wisely converted back to petrol only. I can get 55mpg without the hybrid working.

Great review, thanks for it. Prices are insane, I know, covid, the war in Ukraine, inflation, but Hyundai i40 diesel estate(basic model) costed £18 900 back 2019., i40

Good helpful review.
But i'm a bit puzzled - a number of i20 2024 reviews are saying the engine is still mild-hybrid.
Hyundai's web site isn't giving much away.
What's going on?

the rest of the world would love this car but why it's only available in 4 right hand drive countries and 9 left hand drive countries. 1.0L with turbo petrol engine with manual or automatic option nothing is more valuable with that package
