My mom and sister were in a head on collision when I was 15. My mom woke up in the ambulance. This is heartbreaking and beautiful. I remember the text my sister sent before calling my dad, my mom was screaming in the back asking if her daughter was okay because she couldn't raise up to see her due to her broken neck. My sister thought her mom was dead for awhile. It was on the 29th of January. We rushed to the hospital and it was after midnight. It was the 30th. I can't listen to this without bawling.

2:14 - 2:44 reminds me of what happened, it was by my uncle and he did it right in front of my brother. He distracted my brother just so he wouldn’t see what was happening to me. It was on my mom’s birthday at my grandfather’s house, my mom found out two months later and I never saw my uncle again. I’ve never felt the same about my mom’s birthday ever again since then.

I’m struggling to even put into words how touched I feel by this song. On June 30th, 2017 my husband was hit while he was on his motorcycle and he had a brain injury which made him have severe memory loss. One of the things he said to me over and over was that he was scared. This song is touching me in ways I never can explain. Thank you for this Billie.

This song just truly and purely evokes relief of a loved one being safe, but also the initial shock and disbelief someone you love has passed. It just encapsulates the general experience of grief.
