The S-Class is central to the Mercedes-Benz brand. The German automaker's first saloon, the Mercedes-Simplex 60 PS, debuted in 1903. Twenty-seven years later, the Mercedes-Benz Nürburg (W 08) became the company's first production model with an eight-cylinder engine. In 1937, the Mercedes-Benz 320 (W 142) added new luxuries to the passenger car segment. The three-box design was later championed by the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 220 (W 180). Soon after, the 220 SE (W 111) “Fintail” integrated safe design into a series production car. Air suspension arrived in a sedan as early as the 1965 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 (W 109). In 1972, Mercedes-Benz's full-size sedan finally became know as the S-Class with the 116 model.

Just purchased the S580 last week. The most beautiful car I've ever owned!

Leased a brand new 2020 amg gtc roadster 2/2021. On the drive home got first error message and noticed busted subwoofer. After that engine lights. Then engine lights again. Then 4 (!!!) simultaneous error messages. Multiple knocking sounds. Overall, $189k car has been in the shop with 10 different issues for about 70 days. Customer service from MBUSA is truly disgusting. Ignoring multiple calls and messages and multiple emails. Asked them multiple times to take car back and they refused. Have to go thru lemon process to get rid off this piece of junk. Never offered apology or any sort of mediation for the experience. How in the world they are allowed to sell products they cannot support is beyond me.

I love this vehicle. Everything about it I think if I had the money I would buy one. I love the new headlights they look better than the old ones. It gives the car a more modern look. I will say the back side of the vehicle is ok. Overall you did a great job keep it up!

Exterior looks super weak. S-Class is always known to be bulky with a lot of presence. This looks like a E-class in size

Not a fan. The 2016 model is by far the better big one...and the 2014 CL is the yacht-like coupe king!

I fell in love with the back of the Benz in the 90's and also back then a Benz stood out and the tail lights and head lights were awesome. Nowadays even the most expensive Benz doesn't stick out in traffic because the cheap hondas and Kia's are making knock offs that look exactly like benz's. The back of this one looks like and older honda accord sport. The Benz used to look exotic now it just looks like any other car in traffic.

This interior redesign is pretty disappointing. That gauge cluster screen looks like an extremely cheap solution compared to the dual screens of previous model years. The center console screen appears to have the responsiveness of an early android tablet, I really don't understand why reviewers are ignoring that fact. They got rid of the defining S-class center console compartment which opened from both sides, now you get what's in an E and C-class. Steering wheel looks incredibly cheap with that black plastic, where previous years you got S-class specific metal buttons and tasteful accents.
Really surprised they missed the mark this hard with this car. No doubt it's still going to be a fantastic thing to drive ( it is an S-class after all), but I feel like they've moved backwards in terms of quality and refinement.
